Today, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said that on Saturday, Russian fighter jets carried out 70 airstrikes in and around the historic Syrian city of Palmyra.
The monitoring group has also said that there are no immediate reports of casualties.
Since May, Palmyra has been under the control of ISIS terrorists.
The Syrian government forces with the help of Russian Aerospace Defense Forces are aiming to recapture the city since conditions have been created for a complete defeat of IS in Palmyra.
However, Russia is continuing its airstrikes on ISIS targets, although they have begun a withdrawal of partial forces stationing Syria.
