On September 14, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a series of airstrikes on ISIS’s areas of influence in Syria’s central region.
The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said that more than 20 Russian airstrikes targeted hideouts of the terrorist group’s cells in the outskirts of the town of Resafa in the southern Raqqa countryside. The terrorists have been very active in this area.
The airstrikes were likely a response to recent attacks by ISIS cells in central Syria. The terrorists have carried out two attacks against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) since the start of the month.
On September 4, ISIS cells attacked a vehicle of the SAA with an improvised explosive device (IED) while it was passing on a road to the south of Tabqah Air Base in the southern Raqqa countryside. Later on September 6, the terrorist destroyed another army vehicle with an IED, this time near the town of Muayzlah in the southwestern countryside of Deir Ezzor.
ISIS’s official news agency, Amaq, claimed that several service members of the SAA were killed or wounded as a result of the two attacks.
In the last few months, most of ISIS cells in central Syria moved from the eastern countryside of Homs to the southern countryside of Raqqa and the western Deir Ezzor countryside. The terrorists are likely trying to get closer to their comrades in the northwestern region, who enjoy much more resources.
The SAA and its allies, first and foremost the Russian military, stepped up their operations in ISIS’s new areas of influence in the central region in the last few months. Dozens of terrorists have been already eliminated. The remaining terrorists will eventually be eliminated or forced to cease their operations.
Such a shame they are not put to better use against the Nazi’s in Ukraine. Putin should just let the retarded sand niggers fight it out with each other and deal properly with his problems nearer to home FFS!
