On February 26, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out a series of airstrikes on the militant-held part of the northern Lattakia countryside.
According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the airstrikes targeted several hilltops surrounding the town of Kabani.
Kabani is a stronghold of a number of terrorist groups, including al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham, the Turkistan Islamic Party and Ajnad al-Kavkaz. Over the last three years, the terrorists launched dozens of attacks with drones and rockets on the Syrian coast from the town and its surroundings.
“There is no information on casualties yet,” the SOHR said in its report.
This was the third wave of Russian airstrikes to hit Kabani and the seventh on the northwestern region of Greater Idlib since the state of the year.
Earlier this week, Russian warplanes carried out a number of airstrikes on militants’ posts in the outskirts of town of al-Bara in the southern countryside of Idlib.
Over the last few days, the Russian Reconciliation Center in Syria recorded dozens of ceasefire violations by militants in Greater Idlib. The militants even attacked a humanitarian crossing where Russian service members were present.
The recent Russian airstrikes on Greater Idlib inflicted some serious losses on the militants. Yet, the militants continue to carry out more provocations.
The video below shows the recent Russian strikes on targets near Kabani:
Softening ahead of a vast operation on the ground, after the turkey showed all its inability to fight terrorists, and even its connivance with jihadist terrorism.
Patriot SAMs in Syria and Iraq against Russian Kalibr missiles Russia’s Aviapro news agency reported today, February 26, that the U.S. military has Patriot surface-to-air missile [SAM] systems at bases in Syria and Iraq. According to Russian sources, the Pentagon is building a new U.S. air base in eastern Syria in the Deir ez-Zor area. One of the reasons for the deployment of Patriot air defense systems, according to analysts, is the presence of Russian warships in the Mediterranean. They are arming with Kalibr cruise missiles. At this stage, only these missiles are capable of striking from a distance in the Syrian region.
Russia already transferred new batch of fighter jets in Syria According to Russian media, the transfer took place on February 19th, citing a source from Russia’s Defense Ministry. However, it is still unclear what type of fighter models had transferred to the Russian base in the Arab Republic.
Military analysts have commented on Russia’s actions as a clear signal to Israel and Turkey. A few days ago, Russia’s Foreign Ministry said Moscow was ready to counter “Israeli aggression.” The Russians did not report Turkey as another country against which Russia will oppose. Still, since the beginning of the year, the Turkish army has been carrying out “unwanted military bombings” in areas where Russian troops have increased presence. https://bulgarianmilitary.com/amp/2021/02/26/patriot-sams-in-syria-and-iraq-against-russian-kalibr-missiles/

Iskander and Oniks missiles can reach eastern Syria as well.
True, specially Iskander-K cruise missile can reach anywhere in Middle east. The only problem is – it is not known how many do they have them there…
can you like Communist Party of Russia ?
I don’t understand your question…I am not communist. Even Russians doesn’t care about communism so much, why should I ?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Communist_Party_of_the_Russian_Federation yes but they are better than Alexei Navalny and they might as well cooperate with Assad
Russia cooperates with Assad. Russia will not put her own existence in danger (start WW3) because of Syria. Before they arrived to Syria there was no written military alliance = no obligation for Russia to defend Syria (they have arrived on Iranian demand). Russian intervention was limited and will stay limited simply because Russia is far from being rich as US and NATO countries combined. China for some reason doesn’t help (doesn’t see Syria important )and Iran is every day more into their own survival. Using Syria as future front line against IsraHell…. If arriving in power, Russian communists would not be able to help Syria more, than already Putin does.
My guess is if the SAM sites are ever used, they won’t survive for long after. It maybe that Idlib is just a distraction and the real threat is to Syrian and Russian air superiority via these sites.
I doubt that Russia ever intends to target anything on the US controlled territory in Syria. Unless US is planning some escalation in Syria (with maybe attack on Iran, or similar) Russia is also bringing more jets so…both sides expect some kind of escalation… Not danger for “air superiority”…I doubt that US would go over the top and challenge Russia directly or even less start the WW3 over Syria by shooting Russian jet. It seams that building military US airport in Syria indicates that US doesn’t have intention ever to leave Syria (unless kicked out)… Suddenly they want to stay and that is very big problem ( much bigger than Idlib ).
Well its way past time Russia started using those missiles, there will not be any peace in Syria until those US gangsters are OUT one way or another.
The US/nato is waiting for the Russian admin to blink first. If the Russian admin commit big time in Syria, they could be attacked through Ukraine or another nato minion on their border. The longer the Syrian conflict goes on the more the US will be dug in. If the SAA wanted to take out the SAM sites at a later date, they could find themselves sandwiched between the US and its nato ally, Turkey, via Idlib. If the Russian admin do succeed in Syria, it could, and probably would, help the whole region out from its US vassalage.
Condolences to the fallen wahabimossad and CIAisis operators. May they rest in pieces…
Bombing, bombing, bombing, but they have not been able to regain a single inch of territory on that front in the past years
