The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) is conducting operations against ISIS remnants in eastern Hama and southern Raqqa, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on October 30.

According to the London-based monitoring group, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces and Syrian helicopters are providing SAA troops with close air support.

“Nearly 20 Russian fighter jets and several regime helicopters striking positions in Raqqa desert and the eastern countryside of Hama,” the group said in its report.

Earlier this month, a fierce battle broke out in eastern Hama when ISIS terrorists attacked army positions in the region. 39 Syrian soldiers and 22 ISIS terrorists were reportedly killed in the battle.

ISIS terrorists are launching attacks from their stronghold in the central region, the Homs desert, on the SAA troops and civilians in eastern Homs, eastern Hama, southern Raqqa and western Deir Ezzor on a regular basis.

Recent reports revealed that the terrorists are being supplied by U.S.-backed fighters based in the southeastern area of al-Tanaf.

Pro-government forces are making immense effort to prevent ISIS from expanding its influence in central Syria. Despite sustaining heavy losses, the terrorist group continue to launch attacks in the region.
