Russian Warplanes Rain Hell On Militant Positions In Greater Idlib (Videos, Photos)

On October 30, warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out at least 20 airstrikes on militants’ positions in the northwestern Syrian region of Greater Idlib.

Ten airstrikes targeted the headquarters of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) 23^rd Division near the town of Kah in the northern countryside of Idlib. The headquarter was bombed by Russian warplanes three days earlier. However, it was not apparently destroyed back then.

Six other airstrikes targeted militants’ positions located in the outskirts of the town of al-Bara in the southern Idlib countryside.

And the remaining four airstrikes hit militants’ positions in the town of Kafr Ammah in the western countryside of Aleppo.

The intense Russian airstrikes were likely a response to recent violations of the ceasefire in Greater Idlib by al-Qaeda-affiliated Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the SNA.

Late on October 29, the militants shelled Syrian Arab Army (SAA) positions inside and around the town of Saraqib in the southern Idlib countryside. Material losses were reported. On October 30 morning, the militants pounded the outskirts of the town of Jurin in the northwestern countryside of Hama. Two soldiers were allegedly killed.

The ceasefire in Greater Idlib, which was brokered by Russia and Turkey more than a year ago, appears to be on the brink of complete collapse.

According to recent reports, the SAA and its allies will soon kick off a ground operation in Greater Idlib to reinforce the ceasefire agreement. Turkey, who maintains a large force in the region, has already warned that it will stand against any such operation.
