Warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces carried out on July 12 a series of airstrikes on Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) so called “security zone” in Idlib’s city center.
Many of HTS’ security headquarters and other facilities are believed to be located in the security zone, which occupies a large part of the civilian al-Qusur district.
HTS’ news network, Iba’a, released several photos showing the aftermath of the Russian airstrikes on the security zone. Heavy material damage can be seen in the photos.
The Russian airstrikes were not limited to Idlib’s city center. According to opposition activists, Russian warplanes also targeted the key towns of Ma`arat al-Nu`man, Arihah and Jisr al-Shughur in the southern and northwester countryside of the governorate.
These airstrikes were likely a response to the recent drone attack on Hmeimim airbase on the Syria coast. At least two armed drones were shot down before reaching the airbase, according to local sources.

If only the Russians could sustain that fury and put it to some real use, like perhaps making the buffer zone between the Russian bases and the rebels who launch the attacks even bigger than it is now, like possibly making it stretch all the way to the Turkish border, that would be a big enough buffer zone to protect the Russian bases I think.
