Russian writer and political activist Zakhar Prilepin was seriously injured in a car bomb attack near the city of Nizhny Novgorod on May 6. His driver was killed.
The attack occurred while Prilepin’s car was on a highway near the town of Pionersky. The explosive device was allegedly planted underneath the vehicle. The car flipped over.
Russian media reported that the explosion occurred as Prilepin was returning from a trip to Russia’s Donbass republics.
Prilepin was reportedly accompanied by his daughter, but in a fortunate turn of events, she had stepped out of the car minutes before it exploded.
Later, Russian police announced that it had arrested a man who could be connected to the bomb attack.
In a statement, Russian Interior Ministry spokeswoman Irina Volk said that “during a hot pursuit in Nizhny Novgorod Region, police officers apprehended a man who may have been involved in blowing up the car with Zakhar Prilepin inside.”
Volk said that the man “had been spotted near the village of Pionersky, according to witnesses.”
The Interior Ministry noted that the suspect, who has a prior criminal record, was arrested as police officers were implementing a dragnet. A Ren TV channel report claimed that the man was a local resident who recently received Russian citizenship, adding that he was being interrogated by law enforcement.
Media reports claimed that the second suspect was a 33-year-old man who had rented an apartment on the city outskirts a day before the blast. The man is said to have drawn the police’s attention because he is registered in Ukraine’s Kharkov Region.
Tass news agency report added that the individuals believed to be involved in the attack were also being sought in Moscow Region and that the addresses of these additional suspects are already known. Police have also reportedly managed to pinpoint the apartment where the explosive device that blew up Prilepin’s car was assembled.
Russia’s Investigative Committee described the blast as a “terrorist act.”
There are little doubts that the attack was likely carried out by the Kyiv regime with a direct help of its foreign sponsors.

Ukraine is getting desperate. Such SBU state sponsored terrorism is the equivalent of a wild animal in a trap that is lashing out in all directions. In this instance, the Ukrop-SBU attacked another soft target, a non-military individual, without any security detail. It is a sign of Kiev’s weakness and of their desperation.
There is no major UAF counter offensive happening, and the constant pressure from west to launch a large offensive action is driving Kiev to such desperation. The current, and panicked, Kiev mindset is to create outrageous provocations, in hope of a Russian out-scale reaction, from which Kiev can suck in US-NATO military intervention to save them from the slow motion disaster they are trapped in. But Russia has been subjected to this same provocation game with US since 1990’s (Chechnya-Georgia-Syria) and are not going to start falling for it now.
Public hanging of the traitors is the only reasoneable punishment.
