In 2020, the specialists of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces ensured 15 launches of spacecraft for various purposes, carried out from the Plesetsk, Baikonur, Vostochny cosmodromes.

In total, 21 Russian spacecraft were launched into orbit. Out of the 21, 7 spacecraft were taken over by the Main Testing Space Center (GIKTs).

The orbital constellation of spacecraft in Russia, currently, includes more than 160 spacecraft for various purposes.

Over 2020, the on-duty forces of GIKTs performed all the planned control sessions of the spacecraft of the Russian orbital group, about 60% of which is under the control of the ground-based automated control complex of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces.

In 2020, the military units of GIKTs received 5 modern satellite communication stations.

Currently, work is underway to put new equipment into operation.

Furthermore, the development of command-measuring systems of a new generation is underway for the re-equipment of individual command-measuring complexes of GIKTs.

The commissioning of unified command and measurement tools will allow the transition to new control technologies for spacecraft of the Russian orbital group and to reduce several times the list of modifications of technical controls of previous generations.

The personnel of the ground-based automated control complex of the Space Forces of the Aerospace Forces in 2020 conducted more than 500,000 sessions of spacecraft control.

In addition, in the course of carrying out the tasks of carrying out combat duty, the personnel performed more than 180,000 sessions of ensuring control of spacecraft.

At the same time, the average daily indicator of the intensity of control sessions and control support for spacecraft of the Russian orbital constellation was about 1600 sessions.

One of the tasks of the space forces of the Aerospace Forces is to launch space vehicles into orbits, control satellite systems for military and dual (military and civil) purposes in flight and use some of them in the interests of providing the troops (forces) of the Russian Federation with the necessary information.
