Russia’s Federal Security Service Thwarts Terrorist Attack On Railway Line In Crimea (Video)

On April 21, Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that it had prevented a supporter of ISIS from conducting a terrorist attack on a railway line in Crimea.

The FSB said in a statement that the suspect, a Russian national, was apprehended in the city of Simferopol.

“He was preparing to blow up a railway line on the instructions of leaders of the Crimean Tatar volunteer battalion Crimea involved in military activities against the Russian Armed Forces in Ukraine,” the statement reads.

At the suspect’s home, FSB officers found two improvised explosive devices with a total weight of three kilograms, two electric detonators, instructions on how to plant bombs along railway lines, extremist literature, the Crimea battalion’s flag and propaganda leaflets.

According to the FSB, the suspect will be charged with preparations for a terrorist attack, unlawful possession of explosives and explosive devices.

Hundreds of Jihadists are known to be fighting in the ranks of Kiev forces. Since 2014, several radical members of the so-called Crimea battalion have been detained in Crimea for plotting terrorist attacks.

The Kiev regime may have been directly involved in the plot to attack Crimea railway line. The attack was likely meant to disturb the supply lines of Russian forces.

Less than a week earlier, the FSB detained four members of the Syria-based Hayat Tahrir al-Sham terror group in the Kaluga region. One of the detained men was plotting an terrorist attack on local military facilities.
