Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) eliminated an ISIS cell in Stavropol, the FSB press service reported on December 19.
According to the FSB, terrorists opened fire at FSB servicemen and were eliminated in the followed firefight. No calsuaties among FSB servicemen were reported.
Photos circulating online show that at least 2 terrorists were eliminated. They were armed with at least one pistol and a grenade.
On December 11, the FSB cracked down on a terror funding network, which had been involved in supplying money to ISIS and Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (now known as Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda).
On October 9, FSB Head Aleksandr Bortnikov declared that the security service had prevented 6 terrorist attacks since the start of 2018. During the same period, the FSB eliminated 50 terrorists as well as detained 63 terrorists and 142 supporters of terrorists.
