On April 17, Russia’s Rostec Сorporation shared on Twitter a photo of the new stealth fighter jet that was developed by its subsidiary, the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC).
The photo shows what appears to be an optical system installed under the new fighter jet, that has become known as the “Checkmate”.
A photo reflected on the optical system shows what appears to be a Type 45-class destroyer of the United Kingdom’s Royal Navy. A warship of this class, the HMS Defender (D36), was confronted by the Russian Navy last month while attempting to breach the waters off the coast of Crimea.

A source in the Russian military-industrial complex told RIA Novosti that Rostec’s photo shows “an optical-electronic targeting system built into the aircraft.” Such systems are used to direct strikes at ground or naval targets.
The design of the Russian system is very similar to that of Lockheed Martin’s Electro-Optical Targeting System (EOTS) which is installed on F-35 stealth fighter jet.
Checkmate will reportedly be Russia’s first lightweight multi-role fifth-generation fighter with a single engine. Several photos showing the fighter jet under wraps surfaced online in the last few days.
The new fighter jet will be officially presented for the first time at the MAKS-2021 Air Show which is set to open on July 20.

Ok, now Russia has to prove that they can mass produce a new aircraft fighters other than the Su-35, a great fighter, by the way. Unless Russia can prove it can mass produce new fighter jets, like 20 fighters a year, it will be better to just keep producing drones, cruise missiles, Kinzal missiles and Zircon, producing nuclear torpedoes and the SS-28 ICBMs.

During the cold war it was the same in 1991 the U.S. realized that the Soviet union had 3 times as many nuclear subs as what they have thought. Rate of production is not a tech problem but cost effectiveness. Russia is already invincible so why put something in high rate production that is not needed, but As I said you and the U.S. wouldn’t know even if they would have already a 100 of these stationed at deep underground bases in the Urals.
