The Penicillin acoustic-thermal artillery reconnaissance system has enabled Russian troops in the special military operation zone to strike back in seconds, a Rostec source told TASS on July 21.
“The Penicillin thermal sound reconnaissance complex, developed by our Rosel holding company, helps Russian fighters effectively conduct counter-battery warfare in their combat zone. With its help, military personnel identify enemy firing positions in seconds and give their artillery target indications for return fire. As a result, the barrel of the enemy cannon does not have time to cool down after firing, while a response is already coming from our side,” the source said.
The Penicillin was developed to detect and locate artillery, mortars, multiple rocket launchers, anti-aircraft or tactical-missile firing positions with seismic and acoustic sensors.
The system does not emit any radio waves which makes it immune to electromagnetic warfare and impossible to detect by radio-technical means. It can locate enemy fire within five seconds at a range of 25 kilometers
The source who spoke to TASS noted that Penicillin combines three types of information – seismic, thermal and visual.
“Its sensors are positioned. The complex detects sound and light waves from shots and explosions. Its equipment automatically aggregates and processes information and in a few seconds produces the coordinates of enemy guns – from mortars to heavy howitzers. The detection range is impressive,” the source said
The source added that the system is capable of effectively conducting exploration at any time of the day in a wide temperature range from minus 40 to plus 60 degrees Celsius.
“The deployment time is minimal for such a complex system. One of its most important advantages is that the equipment works without radiation, only in a passive mode. Detecting volleys of any artillery systems, the complex remains inaccessible for radio direction finding and radio interference. It is also impossible to suppress it with electronic warfare systems,” the source explained.
The Russian military began to receive Penicillin soon after the start of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine. It is unclear how many such systems are currently in service, but the number could be in the dozens.
Ukraine received more than 1,600 artillery systems and dozens of counter-battery radars from the United States and other NATO members since the start of the special military operation. Despite this, its forces are still outgunned by the Russian military.

you will need much penicillin when you penetrate a russian girl…heheheh
tell me you’re a hohol without telling me you’re a hohol.
“hohol” is how your daughter sounds when my rod is down her throat…heheheh
russia won cope harder. lol
what’s wrong you zionists can’t handle losing?
penicillin system ? nice name ! russia is fight an international infection by the the zio mafia pirate cult
i’d like to see this system mass produced just like the gerans.
ears can detect enemy fire with 25 kilometres within 2 seconds.
but no doubt russian taxpayers were robbed of millions by clever industrialists to invent those ears.
the next generation russian acoustic-thermal-passive-radar recon system should be called fentanyl.
