A military bus of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) was targeted by an IED planted by anonymous militants in the heart of Syria’s capital Damascus.
A military source reported that the explosion took place at 7.25 AM on February 15 near the Customs roundabout, where the IED was already planted in the bus. The explosion killed a soldier and wounded 11 others.
It was also reported that another military bus was targeted on the road between Homs and Mehin by anonymous militants who are probably related to ISIS, but the sources denied these reports, assuring that they are totally unfounded.
The armed groups have repeatedly targeted buses carrying SAA soldiers with IEDs every now and then. Two of them blew up a bus for Military Housing institute on 20 October last year while it was passing near Jisr al-Raees in Damascus killing 14 employees and wounding 3 others.
Last December, specialized security forces announced that they captured a terrorist cell involved in targeting SAA soldiers in Damascus.
It is noteworthy that this escalation comes after Russian warnings about intelligence reports that the CIA activated terrorist cells in Syria to exacerbate the situation, which is a dangerous indication that the Syrian crisis is returning to the starting point ten years ago, especially after Ghwairan prison incident carried out by ISIS.
