San Francisco will spend up to 600,000 USD to paint over historical artwork at a public school depicting the life of George Washington because it’s allegedly ‘racist’ and ‘degrading’ for its depiction of black and Native American people.
The artwork depicts Washington as a soldier, surveyor and statesman. Additionally, the 13-panel, 149-m2 muralcontains images of white pioneers standing over the body of a Native American and slaves working at Washington’s Mount Vernon estate in Virginia.
The “Life of Washington” was painted by Victor Arnautoff. He was one of the foremost muralists in the San Francisco area during the Depression.
The decision to paint over the 83-year-old mural comes in the framework of the previous censorship efforts aimed to blame and shame some ‘wrong parts’ of history of the US as well as to impose own ideological norms by a part of the US elites supporting the so-called neo-liberal world order.

Ever wake up one morning and think, why did I do that yesterday…. I should’ve waited until the situation changed. Well, here they are about to destroy a mural that is almost 100 years old and which cannot be restored once it’s painted over and all because of a herd of snow flakes ignorant about history and yet offended by a depiction of it. If the current trend continues among the snow flakes in California, they may find they’ll have to destroy mirrors in their homes because the reflected image offends them. Not to worry though, nature may soon settle all of those heavy issues that offend them by dumping the whole state into the sea via an earth quake. Of course if that happens, they’ll be forced to contend with another issue that offends them, having to swim until they find land fit for snow flakes.

$600,000 to paint 1604 square feet of a flat wall surface? That comes to $374.00 per square foot! here in Texas one can have a nice starter home built for $74 per sq. ft., $174 per sq. ft. will get you a borderline mansion and $374 sq. ft. a palace fit for a Saudi Prince (Trump is into cheap and gaudy). A decent commercial painting contractor could do that that job in 3-4 days with 3 cheap Meskin painters for $6,000 and make a killing. San Francisco should consider doing that and spend the balance on Porta-Pottys for the homeless drug addicts to crap in instead of on the sidewalks.
Do not paint over it, remove it and store it until this freak fad runs dry.

I agree the unit price is quite high, was this even put out to tender or project handed.over to someone buddy.
But.paint is.expensive, a bottle of.hardener if 250$ Can , it adds up quick!

These murals were never meant to be “racist”. In fact, quite the opposite, they were intentionally designed to depict crimes committed by those who founded the USA. Also, the forces that want these murals removed are just using the “racism” card as a pretext — they really just want to cover up Washington’s genocide against the indigenous population and slavery. According to US propaganda “history books” these crimes were all just “unfortunate mistakes” that should never spoken about (lest someone become offended).
