Newly-released satellite images have revealed the targets of the April 27 Israeli strikes on the outskirts of the Syrian capital Damascus.
According to the images, the strikes targeted a base of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) elite 4th Division near the district of Qudssaya to the northwest of Damascus city center. The images show massive damage at the base.

The strikes also targeted Damascus International Airport. The satellite images show at least two impacts on the apron of the airport’s northern runway. Israel attacked the airport several times in the past, supposedly to stop Iranian weapons shipments to Hezbollah.

Six service members of the SAA were killed as a result of the last Israeli strikes. One of the casualties was a high-ranking officer.
The attack was the last of three Israeli carried out against Syria during April. On the 9th of the month, a series of Israeli airstrikes hit a research center, a weapons factory, a military base and a suspected air-defense site in the outskirts of the town of Masyaf in the western Hama countryside. On the 14th of the month, another wave of Israeli airstrikes targeted a position of the SAA located near the town of Kafr Qouq in the western countryside of Damascus.
The recent attacks on Syria were a part of Israel’s “War-Between-Wars” military campaign, which is meant to hinder Iranian entrenchment in the war-torn country and prevent the transfer of advanced Iranian-made weapons to Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Syria, which has been devastated by more than a decade of war, will not likely respond to the recent attacks to in order to avoid a full-on confrontation with Israel.
Russia has it’s own battle to fight at the moment. Maybe the time has come for Syria to take full control of it’s Air defence systems. The squatters need to be thought a lesson. A very hard lesson.
If Syria starts taking out planes or launch sites, it is not something that can be turned off until a full scale war is over. Syria is winning more ground than they are losing. It is NATO in northern Europe that is being ‘outclassed’ at every turn. Should NATO ‘fold’, the EU World Bank will be right behind them. That ends 98% of the funding and political support for Israel. . . At that point, reconstruction plans for the whole area can begin. The refugees coming back home should have A/C accommodation as the cities are rebuilt bottom to top using 21st century building standards. (including put it underground (aka bunker) as much as possible)
