Turkey is developing its drilling activities in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus.
Israel’s ISI released satellite images showing a second drill ship, the Yavuz. It was observed on the other side relative to the first ship, the Fatih. Both ships are located in some distance from the search blocks officially launched by the government of the Republic of Cyprus.
Both ships are are accompanied by warships of the Turkish Navy.

On July 15th, the European Union’s foreign ministers decided to impose sanctions on Turkey over its drilling activities within the territorial waters of the Republic of Cyprus. The EU maintains that those activities are illegal. Ankara’s stance that it works within the economic zone of the self-proclaimed Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Turkey is the only state that recognized its independence.

There might be economically viable deposits in the Turkish-claimed areas, but this is not about expecting any major finds. The Erdogan mafia wants to make sure that any gas pipeline to Europe MUST cross their declared Turkish-Cyprus exclusive economic zone. That will either make it too expensive to be built at all, or else generate billions in transit fees for Erdogan to skim if it is built. Drilling a few wells in their ‘EEZ’ – if unchallenged – will cement their claim to this area and facilitate the planned Turkish pipeline between itself and Cyprus to Europe.
It is also in Qatar’s direct economic interest (the Al-Thani gas mafia) to prevent or delay any Isareli/Egyptian European gas pipelines, which would have to pass through or around Cyprus.Also explains Qatar’s efforts in Idlib using MB or Turkish-backed terrorists to counter the US/Saudi/UAE al Qaeda Wahhabi terrorists.
