Saudi Arabia sacked its top military commanders, including the chief of staff and the heads of the ground forces and air defences, in a series of royal decrees last night, according to the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Howeverm no reason for the sackings was given.
The development comes as the Saudi-led coalition still struggles in its battle against the Houthis and their allies in Yemen. Some experts believe that the move is linked to a lack of military success of Saudi Arabia in Yemen and a political “purge” launched by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2017.
According to some experts, Crwon Prince Salman is seeking to consolidate his power and to find persons to blame for failures in the war on the Houthis in Yemen.
Perhaps it is because their version of Operation Market Garden has failed.
A blitz attack immediately after Saleh’s betrayal of the Houthis thinking that there would be enough chaos to achieve a swift taking of port hodeidah. That didn’t work out. Instead there was an insurrection in Aden and only marginal gains.
As if sacking Saudi “military” commanders is going to change the disaster they created in Yemen for the better, even for them. Now they understand the result of their commanders and officers NOT participating in their classes and sending “place holder” and recorders instead of themselves. No wonder with all their fancy weapons they still lose to barefoot fighters of Yemen and flee upon seeing them.
On a side note I recently noticed that in SF news agencies like SANA, IRNA and others are called “state run” like what the western MSM does whenever they want to subtly discredit a news outlet and imply that it is biased. But in this article SPA is called “the official Saudi Press Agency”. Is it not “state-run” too?
Hoo boy! I hope I didn’t become too paranoid.
I just read the title coz it’ll be a waste of my precious time..! Anyway, who cares who these inbreed Bedouins sacks ..!
Out with the Saudi military prince-lings and in with the US/UK rent-an-officer leadership?
Israelis are fed up with the saudis. From now on it’s israeli generals in charge.
Seeking the architect of disaster, oh Prince? Look in the mirror!
