On November 8, the Saudi authorities frozed bank accounts of Prince Mohammed bin Nayef, one of the most senior members of the ruling Al Saud family, and the former Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, according to Reuters.

Prince Mohammed bin Nayef was removed from his position as the Saudi Crown Prince back on June 21 by Saudi Arabia King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud. The king replaced him with his own son, Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

The report also revealed that more business men and members of the Saudi royal family have been arrested on November 8. The new arrests are a part of the “anti-corruption” purge launched by King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al Saud, and his Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman on November 5.

A banking source told Reuters that over 1,700 domestic bank accounts have been frozen by the Saudi authorities so far as a result of the ongoing “anti-corruption” purge.

Arab media talked before about tensions between Prince Mohammad bin Salman and Prince Mohammed bin Nayef. This could mean that the ongoing purge in Saudi Arabia more about the political struggle within the Saudi family, than fighting corruption.

We could do worse for our enemies to fight each other. On the other hand a house divided cannot make a concerted fist abroad. A house that has purged its opposition and dissenters is free to pursue whatever crazy scheme it wants. In that sense I worry who comes out on top as I fear its the crazy ones. In which case we can expect more exports of Wahhabism, more stoking up the flames abroad, more crazy military adventures and more IS like terrorism. All the while our politicians grovel and debase themselves (and us in the bargain too) to suck Saudi ass in exchange for cheap oil.

Saudi are Saudi, there are no good options, they’re all the same, it’s like a revolution in hell, wins the stronger demon.

Aye. Although there is always the choice of the lesser evil, even if its just minutely lesser evil.
