On February 19, the 5th Military District of the pro-Saudi Yemeni Armed Forces announced that its air defenses had shot down a Qasef-2K suicide drone of the Houthis (Ansar Allah) over the district of Harad in the northwestern Yemeni province of Hajjah.
In a statement, the force claimed that the drone was one of eleven shot down by its air defenses over the span of the last two days.
The Qasef-2K is the Houthis’ own copy of the Iranian Ababil-2. The suicide drone, which has a range of 150 kilometers, is armed with a HE-FRAG [high explosive-fragmentation] warhead and equipped with a proximity fuse.
Two days earlier, the 5th Military District claimed that its air defenses shot down ten drones of the Houthis over Harad. Back then, the force shared footage showing a single Rujum armed hexacopter drone.
The 5th Military District has been leading a large-scale attack on Houthi forces in Harad district center for more than two weeks now. Despite receiving much support from the Saudi-led coalition, the force is yet to make any real gains in Harad. The Houthis are still in control of the district center and most nearby areas.
They can claim 111 drones or 6million, but they proved only one.
