A video shows attack on Saudi bus, belonging to Saudi’s biggest producer of oil, Saudi Aramco, being set on fire in Qatif, on the eastern coastal part of the country.
The video was leaked on the social media on Monday, dating to January 9, 2016. It shows masked men throwing firebombs at the Saudi intelligence center in Qatif. There are speculations that the attack might be a result of the recent execution of the senior Shia Sheikh Nimr Baqir al-Nimr. The town is with mostly Shia population and it is in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.
According to a spokesman for Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry there was a ‘’failed terrorist attempt’’ for attack. He also added that one of the assailants had been captured.
The video shows bombs being thrown over the outer wall of the building compound and exploding on the inside ground, setting a nearby tree on fire.
The speculations for the accident being a consequence of the execution of Sheikh Nimr on January 2 , came by a footnote with this statement. However, this cannot still be verified.
The attack comes nearly one week after a bus carrying workers of Saudi Arabia’s biggest oil company, Saudi Aramco, was set on fire near Qatif. Authorities said none of the workers, who were mostly Shias, had been injured in the attack.
