On Octobers 6, the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies imposed control of a strategic mountain chain that overlooks the district center of Baqim in the northern province of Saada, according to the al-Arabiya TV.

Brigadier Aziz Al-Khattabi of Saudi-backed Yemeni forces told the UAE-based channel that several fighters of the Houthis were killed and two others were captured during the attack on the mountain chain.

“The army [Saudi-backed Yemeni forces] attacked the Houthis in the al-Eazida mountain chain, which overlooks the district center of Baqim, from the northern direction and other positions until it managed to liberate it,” al-Arabiya quoted Brig. Al-Khattabi as saying.

Earlier this week, Houthi fighters launched four “Zilzal-1” rockets at positions of the Saudi-led coalition in the Alb border crossing from their positions around Baqim, which is located 26km south of the Yemeni-Saudi border.

The Houthis will likely attempt to recapture the the al-Eazida mountain chain in the upcoming few days in order to secure their positions in the northern countryside of Saada, that’s known as the heartland of the Yemeni group.

The Coalition captured a strategic mointain chain killing a few Houthi fighters and two captured. That’s it to capture a mountain chain of strategic importance?

Well let us not forget the Coalition control Hodeidah Airport, have secured the Yemeni West Coast and most importantly, destroyed the Houthi’s entire communication network, which the Houthis had deviously hidden in a school bus, but the Coalition was too smart to be fooled.

Well the article was a bit amusing but time to return to the real world…

A strategic mountain chain is often defended by a squad of 10, so 50% casualties. The school bus was spotted because of the tall antenna arrays protruding from the roof. :D

Thanks for the info. Apparently the high casualties inflicted by the Coalition on the Houthi squad was due to all 10 being quadriplegics on life support. Despite the disadvantage, the Houthi squad managed to repell several assaults inflicting heavy losses on the Coalition until finally the Coalition broke through.

Promitheas Apollonious

yes but can they keep it?

S Melanson

or should we be asking if they even captured the area in question. Remember the steady stream of total BS from the Coalition that declared the airport taken… 6 times? Then the Coalition announces they are bombing Houthi positions inside the airport that is supposedly liberated by the Coalition.

From the article::

‘Brigadier Aziz Al-Khattabi of Saudi-backed Yemeni forces told the UAE-based channel that several fighters of the Houthis were killed and two others were captured during the attack on the mountain chain’

This is coming from UAE based media, and the source is a Coalition commander. Given the stellar track record of (dis)honesty in Gulf media reporting, I start with the assumption they are telling lies until proven otherwise.

John Whitehot

finally the saudi army has been able to take a height.

we should all start worrying because at this rate they are going to march all over the four corners of the world at any time.

S Melanson

They will as deserters fleeing their incompetent commanders. As for conquering the mountain, the Saudi’s can keep dreaming.
