On October 31, the Saudi-led coalition announced that its warplane carried out 57 airstrikes on Houthi forces in the central Yemeni province of Ma’rib over the last 72 hours.

In a statement shared by the Saudi Press Agency, the coalition said that the airstrikes targeted fighters and vehicles of the Houthis in the district of al-Jubah in the southern part of Ma’irb as well as in the area of al-Kassarah in the western part of the province.

“The airstrikes destroyed 24 military vehicles and killed more than 218 terrorist elements,” the statement reads.

The Houthis and their allies are currently advancing towards the city of Ma’rib and nearby oil fields which are held by Saudi-backed forces.

The Saudi-led coalition is likely exaggerating the Houthis’ losses in order to boost the morale of its proxies in Yemen. Despite the coalition’s intense airstrikes, the group continues to advance in Ma’rib.

In the last few weeks, the Houthis made significant advance in the province. Just a few days ago, the group successfully concluded the second phase of Operation Spring of Victory after capturing the districts of al-Jubah and Jabal Murad. The group’s fighters also seized the town of al-Jarashah which is located some 35 kilometers to the south of Ma’rib city.
