On November 8, the Saudi-led coalition allowed the Aden port in southern Yemeni to resume its work after it closed all the Yemeni ports back on November 6, according to Reuters. Back then the Saudi-led coalition said it closed the ports to stop the flow of arms to the Houthis from Iran.
“We were officially notified by the coalition this afternoon that the closure will be lifted and work will resume as normal,” a Yemeni official told Reuters.
Aden city was captured by the Saudi-led coalition and forces loyal to Saudi-backed President Abdrabbuh Mansur Hadi on July 22, 2015. On November 5, ISIS fighters and suicide bombers attacked the Yemeni police headquarters in the city killing dozens of Yemeni policemen. This could be the real motive behind the Saudi-led coalition decision to close the port.
In a separated development, the Saudi Press Agency (SAP) announced that Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman met with Hadi on November 8.
During the meeting, the two leaders reviewed the latest developments at the Yemen according to SPA. The two leaders also stressed the importance of their joint work in Yemen withing the Saudi-led coalition.
The meeting was likely a response to a report of the Associated Press (AP), which was released on November 6. The AP claimed that the Saudi authorities placed Hadi under a house arrest as a part of the ongoing “anti-corruption” purge that’s led by Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
If that boat is entering the harbour why is it empty?
Maybe they were visiting their grandmother further up the coast? Maybe they’re going to the port to get something? Maybe they were out at sea for funsies? Who knows? Not every boat going in or out a harbor carries a load.
Its an oil tanker.
If that is the Aden Container Terminal in the background then you are indeed correct! That boat is heading out of the inner harbour.
The Iranians wouldn’t be so stupid to send smuggled arms through a port like Aden without the risk of being discovered. I’m sure the Saudi led coalition know this. I think the missile attack is nothing more than as an excuse to starve or coerce the Yemenis into submission.
Aden is in the Saudi controlled portion of Yemen. So they are going to allow food to flow into southern Yemen where there supporters live but starve the north. Can you say genocide?
Russia and China like to mind their own business but I wish they would make noise about this at the U.N. The Saudis are violating international law but the only country that likes to make noise at the UN is on the wrong side.
Iran, Russia and China have made noises to the UN and the UN have responded numerous times on how terrible the situation is …..THAT IS IT.
US = UN = NATO = IMF = WORLD BANK and so on and so on. All of them need eliminating.
