On May 18, the Saudi-led coalition and its Yemeni proxies resumed their advance along the western Yemeni coast and captured four key positions in the southern part of the al-Tuhayat district of the northwestern province of al-Hudaydah, according to the UAE-based al-Arabiya TV.
The source revealed that Brigadier General Tariq Mohammed Saleh is leading the military operation along the western Yemeni coast. Brig. Gen. Tariq is the cousin of former Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh who was killed by the Houthis on December 4, 2017.
Units of the Yemeni Army Republican Guard led by Brig. Gen. Tariq Mohammed Saleh and backed by the Saudi-led coalition successfully captured the Mawza district and the al-Brah region of the southwestern Taiz province on May 10.
The Al-Tuhayat district is located 80km south of the strategic port of al-Hudaydah, the main target of the Saudi-led coalition. Earlier this year, the coalition failed to reach al-Hudaydah. However, observers believe that with Brig. Gen. Tariq Mohammed Saleh in command, there is a good chance that the new attack will succeed.
And so the war is ending in the reverse order it started…
