On October 7, Saudi-led coalition warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on positions of the Houthis inside and around the city of al-Hudaydah on the western coast of Yemen. The al-Arabiya TV said that Lt. Col. Hisham Abdul Samad al-Khalid, a security commander of the Houthis, was killed along with several Houthi fighters as a result of the airstrikes.

Saudi-led coalition warplanes also shelled reinforcements of the Houthis east of the district center of al-Durayhimi and in al-Hudaydah, according to the al-Arabiya. The Yemeni al-Masirah TV reported that three civilians were killed and another one was injured in the shelling on the coastal city.

The Saudi-led coalition strikes on al-Hudaydah were a part of the ongoing preparations to launch a new offensive on the city. In the last few weeks, the coalition deployed additional troops and heavy weapons at its positions south of the city.

Earlier this year, the coalition launched several attacks on al-Hudaydah, but failed to capture the city because of the strong resistance of the Houthis. The upcoming attack of the coalition will likely fail too unless new, more effective tactics were implemented.

It seems Uncle Sam is putting more emphasis on Yemen than Syria, good for Syria, bad for Yemen. I hope to live to see the end of Americas war of terror, 17 years, and they still haven’t sated their lust for blood.
