Dozens of Houthi fighters were killed in a series of airstrikes by Saudi-led coalition warplanes on different areas in northern Yemen, the al-Arabiya TV reported on December 28.
The UAE-based TV channel released a video showing six airstrikes on vehicles and gatherings of the Houthis in the district of Kitaf wa al-Boqe’e in the province of Sadaa and in the district of Haradh in the province of Hajjah. The video suggests that the airstrikes were conducted with heavy precision-guided munitions.
These airstrikes were likely a response to the recent hit and run attacks by the Houthis in Saada, Hajjah and near the Yemeni capital of Sanaa.
The Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis reached a ceasefire agreement earlier this month. However, the agreement is still limited to the provinces of al-Hudaydah and Taiz. The U.N. will work to expand the agreement to include other provinces, like Sanaa, during the upcoming round of talks, which will be held next January.
