On March 8, twelve civilians, including women and children, were killed and injured when a warplane of the Saudi-led coalition targeted their house in the district of Kushur in the northwestern Yemeni province of Hajjah.

“The enemy’s warplanes targeted a house in the area of Mugharbat Kharhash in the district of Kushur … As a result, three citizens were martyred and nine others were injured, all of them from a single family,” a reporter for the al-Masirah TV said.

Several Yemeni media outlets linked to the Saudi-led coalition confirmed that coalition warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes on Kushur during the last 24 hours. According to these sources, the airstrikes were meant to support a new attack by Saudi-backed tribes on the Houthis.

Last month, the Houthis tightened their siege on Saudi-backed tribes in the area of Hujur, next to Kushur. However, the Yemeni group failed to capture the area.

This new wave of intense airstrikes indicates that the Saudi-led coalition wants to break the Houthis’ siege on Hujur as soon as possible, with no regard to the lives of the locals.
