On October 15, 2 Turkish soldiers were killed in a shelling near the area of Manbij in northern Syria, the Turkish Defense Ministry revealed. According to pro-Turkish sources, the incident was caused by a shelling of the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
Meanwhile, SDF units captured a MRAP (BMC Kirpi) of the Turkish Army in recent clashes in northern Syria.
Both these developments demonstrate that despite efforts of Damascus and Moscow to de-escalate the situation by deploying own troops on the contact line between the SDF and the Turkish Army, the situation in northern Syria still remains tense and an escalation is possible.

It is telling how that number, when googled, appears on many UK “news” outlets, ie Guardian, Telegraph, Daily Mail and AlJazeera, Reuters, CNN and even on Wikipedia. All citing the Turkish Defense Ministry. Have the Kurds/SDF corroborated with this report?

I smell some game by NATO here. So far NATO appears to support the Turkish offensive. If this escalates into a war between Syria and Turkey, NATO will be drawn in. I commented a few days ago that this may all be a coordinated effort between the US and Turkey to replace SDF with SNA. Turkey is fine with NSA controlled Eastern Syria. It has objected to Kurdistan from day one. It was America’s greatest mistake in Syria to have picked the wrong candidate (Kurds) for dividing Syria. This has led to severe friction between Turkey and the US. If Turkey were really interested in the unification of Syria, it would have coordinated this attack with the Syrian and Russian forces. I think Turkey has trained a whole new army (Syrian National Army) who are still going to fight Assad, i. e if they haven’t started already. I think this is a very tricky situation for Russia. Syria is now backing the Kurds. Turkey and I believe the US are in support of SNA. I hope that I am wrong on this. But if it turns out to be true, then this war has entered a whole new phase. I believe the Turks will try to help SNA expand territory under its control to cut the Iraq-Syria link, effectively cutting off Hezbollah from Iran which I think is the major goal. Trump said Syria is no longer America’s problem. He may be trying to look innocent so that when the war escalates, The US can intervene through NATO on grounds of honoring its NATO commitments. America has significant military assets recently deployed in the Middle East, so it is well prepared for any fight against Assad and Russia. I hope my thoughts are wrong about this, for the sake of Syria and the Middle East.

No way, 1) Nato can not be forced to step in when one Nato country nvades an other one, article 5 only applies when a country is invaded itself by an other country. 2) Erdogan is not loved by the other Nato countries and there is certainly no support among the citizens to do something special from that bully and dictator and different to Turkey they can not do without the population. 3) by Erdogans standard we are no muslims and no sunni so as he said sunday we are not human. As I see it Erdogan and Trump earn each other and both countries need other leaders.
