SDF Captures Wasiah Village North Of Deir Ezzor, Temporarily Stops Advance In Center Of Raqqa

On Saturday, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) announced that its fighters captured Wasiah village south of al-Suwar town in the northern Deir Ezzor countryside. The SDF also said that its fighters killed 2 ISIS fighters during their advance.

Kurdish sources also reported that the SDF repelled an attack of ISIS on its positions in the cotton and sugar factories north of Deir Ezzor city. SDF fighters reportedly killed 2 ISIS members during the clashes.

From its side, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq announced that ISIS fighters destroyed a vehicle of the SDF with an IED near Tabiyeh gas field north of Deir Ezzor city.

Meanwhile in Raqqa city, the SDF announced that it stopped its attack on al-Asuad stadium in the center of the city. According to the “Syriac Military Council” the SDF stopped the attack because ISIS fighters were holding many civilians as hostages inside and around it.

As the SDF further advances, civilians held by ISIS are becoming the number one problem. According to local sources, thousands of civilians are still trapped inside theISIS-held area in Raqqa city, especially in the national hospital area.

“…SDF stopped the attack because ISIS fighters were holding many civilians as hostages inside and around it.”

The SDF is lying. They think they can get American sympathy., and continued U.S. backing. For them and against IS.

It will confuse the already confused Trump.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They stopped because of what’s happening at al Mayadin and everywhere else SAA is repulsing all these attacks and they have more troops in DE than the SDF have in their entirety. They are now having to fight ISIS groups who are not buying into the Trumpship Lollipop, looks as if they more than just worried about having to face a better alliance than they are part of.

Like how they show pictures of the volunteer brigades on this new equipment , MRAPS by OSHKOSH , the US phasing out a bad buy, it was the second highest bid and not as good as RG-31 that their allies decided to buy.

Kira Binkley

Do you mean ISIS is not buying into the “Trumpship Lollipop”. Did they ever?

This “better alliance” is the counterpart to the U.S. backing of the Kurds, is that what you meant?

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

That is why some ISIS went north to Shadadi and their families were all offered the amnesty, some of them never bought into the deal and they now fight the SDF, 500-600 had took the offer others balked at the idea according to the Sheikh of the Akqidat tribesmen in the region.

The better alliance was formed by the Syrian-Russian Coalition, you guessed right that the SDF decided to hitch their horse to the US believing everything Brett McGurk told them. He might be better classed as a snake oil salesman.

Kira Binkley

Bad choice. But who else would be thinking in short terms like the U.S.?

I have asked the Kurds to wait until Syria has become stable once more.

Or there may be ground “soaked with the blood of Kurds” for generations to come. They need to learn from history, not emotion.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The thing is it will never be accepted as the US will only make the region a protectorate and in time will give the land to Israeli citizens as they will try to expand into this region. The Kurds lost everything they were better off with limited autonomy now they are placing themselves into a deeper hole, many of the people in this region are older and would have right to make a claim.

The Kurds will play a failed angle which is one about colonized lands which could blow up in their face as that would require massive amounts of proof and not anyone else’s history. The Levant people would have right of claim over old Greater Syria. The Mesopotamians- Assyrians would have greater claim even still, Just a no win situation here for them. Greed got the better of them as the expanded further than the original KRG allotted borders.

Tudor Miron

“Greed got the better of them”(c) Greed and ignorance of their own history – sure path to “better” life.

Kira Binkley

You’re jumping the gun. America is not going to win this one. They might think they are, but they aren’t.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

That’s the US/Coalition(sans NATO) intention and objective but not necessarily the outcome, with Turkey moving into Idlib can be a problem. This is acceptable as both Iran and Russia are in the Central and Southern parts with Iran closer to Damascus, Russia has to play diplomatically here.

FlorianGeyer

The problem is that the US government and military, in fact the USA in general is a cult like group that is entirely controlled by emotions. Rather like spoilt children and feckless adults who seek instant gratification.

It is well nigh impossible to predict what such people will do and one must always prepare for the worst.

Kira Binkley

I think you are correct.

FlorianGeyer

Indeed you have a likely theory here. It seems logical that the Arab component if ISIS in Deir Ezzor that flew the ISIS flag are no more than local criminals who saw the profit in plundering Syrian oil with ISIS and that they changed sides when the tide turned against the Wahabi fools. Whereas the more hard line ISIS rank and file who are fighting for an ideology, not money, refuse to join with the SDF and the US.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

This seems very likely since they have never really changed their M.O., like they say there are always ones who believe this ideology. The ones who left took hundreds of millions of dollars worth in currency so you know their motive like the US is greed and money as they steal the money from the people in the north already.

There will always be the ideologues they will always be fighting for the vision once given to them.

Off topic: Don’t you think ISIS has made a terrible blunder by going after Sukhna and route M20. Meanwhile SAA is on the doorsteps of Mayadin, and will move against the river line north of there very soon. It must be a very good news day, because there are so few trolls on this site today. OUTSTANDING ! https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2ff94513c388dc784fe118c42fe70228887b0f02852eb9494599395ede541697.jpg

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They are more than at the doorsteps they are actually in Mayadin fighting and have captured the Silos and may be on the way to capture the bridge, that’s why they ran out of steam. The attacking M20 and Sukhna was a distraction that failed to achieve it’s goal.

They had to be taken down to manageable sizes for assaults, into the Euphrates Valley making the capture of the Towns easier. Russians attacked a checkpoint near Abukamal killing 40 Tajik and Iraqi ISIS 7 suv gun mounted vehicles was a good day all around. The Trolls got quiet hopefully they stay quiet I did warn them this would happen, the SAA let them all believe. Just remember they will always try psyops to destroy morale and support.

Assad Did Nothing Wrong™

Worrisome news though: https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/2b75175c2d104a2d87947c46dbe95540c2eaa5b0b31ec4ce1293d779fe525c56.png

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The SAA will have the bridge to cross at Al Mayadin and will continue to push across at the river as most of the bridge is intact. This could be just a unconfirmed advance never believe everything you see on that site as the map is wildly inaccurate.

Assad Did Nothing Wrong™

I try to aggregate and estimate from using four map sites, but it seems that one is getting worse.

FYI a section of the bridge was destroyed by US airstrike sometime in September. Not 2016. TWENTY SEVENTEEN. http://katehon.com/news/us-bombing-bridges-deir-ezzur-stop-syrian-army USA waited all this time to strike. SAA will have to work fast.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Check the date Oct 2 2016 time 13:15, the articl mentioned the attack by the (Israeli) pilots flying 2 US fighters and 2 A10c bombers at the time on Thardeh DE, Sept 17 2016.

Assad Did Nothing Wrong™

My bad, I could have sworn reading 2017 when I looked at the twitter post linked to the bridge on militarymaps.info

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Good article by F. William Engdahl on the home page there.

RTA (Bob or Al)

Sit back and watch… I go by Wednesday. Omar field taken and then the slow and arduous push back.

+ A fiver states that the Russian Command warns the US of imminent attacks on their bases within 10-14 days.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Don’t think the Russians have any idea what would happen with these ISIS within the US lines would do. They are just paid thugs, the zealots stay and fight their cause.

RTA (Bob or Al)

Wednesday after that you may chastise and I shall apologise.

PS mmmy maybe Thursday or next month, but heh – what are dated between mates.

RTA (Bob or Al)

Pontoons, the bridge will be booby trapped.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

The US might have SOF do that, but ISIS wouldn’t waste the explosives on it as there are more than 1 way to cross. The people in the city have gone across easily in 2016.

RTA (Bob or Al)

F….ook the Yanks.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Farsnews was reporting that ISIS themselves were pulling out heir top commanders at Al Mayadin, the SAA control the flank from Tahtani to the river can cut across there with pontoons and capture al Mayadin later.

RTA (Bob or Al)

Cheers for the update.

I have patiently waiting for the PMU, God’s speed to them.

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

They had a better less threatening story released on Farsnews go figure zerohedge and others make it more intimidating than it was meant to be.

Lone Wolf

Well …. I still think that … it will not be the end for SAA if SDF captured the al-Omar fields …. I think SAA can still reach the border with Iraq…

I believe that SDF capturing those Oil Fields is more, as an asset to be bargained when they eventually sit down with ASSAD govt. to ask for Kurds autonomous region on North Syria …

Also I believe ASSAD can also play hard ball and with co-operation with Iraq, Iran and Turkey … They can all declare a no fly zone on Northern Syria just like Northern Iraq….

ASSAD can also get Turkey to close down NATO Incirlik Air base to US operation in Syria altogether …

I believe Erdogen will actually do this as he is a mega-lo-maniac !!! He already have arrested more than 20 000 military/civilian pple who he says is against him .. !!! I don’t think he is Afraid of US as he is also part of NATO and US might not want to be confrontational with a fellow NATO member … otherwise that will destabilise NATO ….

US promised Turkey that US will only use YPG to fight the ISIS in Raqqah .. and not anything else … TURKEY already had set a red line but US have crossed it by making YPG go east to Deir-ezZor and to the border with Iraq … looks like YPG total area has increased a lot .. this Turkey will not tolerate .. and therefore more than co-operate with ASSAD … and cut off the supply for the US Special Forces … which then eventually have to be evacuated and therefore the Air Support for SDF … which would invariably weaken SDF greatly and SAA can militarily clash with them in a better position of power … !

I think ASSAD and PUTIN are working behind scene for a political outcome . Maybe thats why Russia sell S400 to Turkey .. lol … maybe Turkey wants to use it against US later on if US do not want to follow Turkey instruction …

RTA (Bob or Al)

But whilst I may be mistaken, a couple of pontoon bridges today and a few flyovers would lead the SAA directly to the Omar field.

Deo Cass

Just look at the molten guns here in the above picture. This can be done only by a particular type of bombs which generate an enormous amount of heat when detonated: The banned White Phosphor bombs. If these bombs can melt steal, imagine what they do to civilians!

PZIVJ

WP is banned only against civilian areas. But this has not stopped the US coalition in using it in Raqqah and Mosul. :/ Off topic: It’s time to crush ISIS :) GO TIGER GO https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/a3d2c0e48c9c1ee5bfdb12b30df04a9226016649f3d09fa6f16c6984267ec197.jpg

Terra Cotta Woolpuller

Generally these weapons are stored near civilians as they rely on the fact that the US will not attack it.

Daniel Castro

Tell me when US haven’t attacked civilians… I think they store them near civilians relying on the fact russians won’t bomb them… IF you don’t want to be bombed by USA you should go to the west, everywhere else you’re a target, civilian or not.
