On June 6, the U.S.-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) concluded the first phase of its large security operation against ISIS cells in northeast Syria.

The first phase of the operation covered the southern al-Hasakah countryside. According to the Hawar News Agency (ANHA), a 70 km long, 60 km wide area was combed by the SDF in the last two days. A total of 30 ISIS terrorists were apprehended.

Backed by units of the U.S.-led coalition, SDF forces are now combing the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside. ISIS cells are known to be highly-active in the region. So far, three terrorists have been captured.

Sasson Toledhan, a commander of the SDF, told the ANHA a day earlier that the operation is facing some challenges now. However, he stressed the at the operation will go on.

“There are some difficulties facing the campaign, which are the vast size of the desert … in addition to the fact that the desert is connected from one of its sides to the Iraqi border, which may allow some elements of ISIS mercenaries to flee across the border,” the agency quoted Toledhan as saying.

ISIS cells carried out dozens of attacks against the SDF in the last few months. Most of the attacks took place in the southeastern Deir Ezzor countryside.

The ongoing security operation has forced ISIS cells in northeast to lay down for the moment. However, many of these cells could resume their activities once the operation is over. The SDF and the U.S.-led coalition will have to keep high pressure on the terrorist group.

US/SDF “security operations”: Declaring those resisting US/SDF occupation are ISIS and eliminating them. Those stupid Arab tribes didn’t know what they were getting into when they changed their ISIS uniforms for SDF uniforms during the 2017 US-led so-called “anti-ISIS campaign” in easten Syria.

Meanwhile, not a single instance of actual ISIS guerilla insurgency in US/SDF occupation areas while the SAA has to deal with ISIS attacks on a regular basis.

Jens Holm

None there changed from ISIS to SDF uniforms.

Assads has done exact same thing many times and in large scale including green busses to Idlib Azaz and Afrin.

Someone has accopoed Your head and used it as football too.

@WithinSyriaBlog : ” ISIS will continue to have influence in northeast Syria, western Deir Ezzor and eastern Homs as long as the SAARussiaIran and the SDFUS-led coalition are not coordinating .”

Jens Holm

Thats a relative. I think its much mpre true, that when Turks attacks SDSs they dont have enough troops or police for good internal leftovers as well as other kinds of devellopment.

That has been the Turkish planes for decades.

Willing Conscience (The Truths

Now that Iran controls all of southern Deir ez Zor it’s no longer possible, Iran and the US won’t cooperate, which sadly means no one else can either.

This guy is a young Alawite from the coastal area. I understand his frustration at the fact that Syria has become a victim of a struggle between other countries / powers.

Hmm how can they “defeat” ISIS cells when a large part of the SDF consists of many “ex” ISIS members themselves?

Jens Holm

Yerrrh, and all in Syreia support Assad too.All eneimies comes from the outside because all the ones from the inside are killed by Assad.
