The security-humanitarian operation of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in the notorious al-Hawl camp in northeastern Syria is still ongoing.
On March 31, the US-backed group announced that the camp’s 4th section had been secured. Security forces inspected more than 1,400 tents.
“During the combing and search operation in the 4th sector today, the forces discovered military equipment and detonation systems for explosive devices, as well as some military clothes and bags, and few mobile devices that were buried under the tents,” the SDF said in a statement.
SDF fighters captured ISIS’ Abu Muhammad al-Jumaili. The terrorist, who was born in the western Iraqi province of Mosul in 1959. He was working as a Sharia Judge for the terrorist group.

According to the SDF, the operation is undergoing now to comb the 5the section of al-Hawl as well as to isolate other sections of the camp.
Around 6,000 troops from the SDF, Asayish security forces and the Women’s Protection Units are taking part in the al-Hawl operation, which was launched on March 28. The operation is meant to secure the camp, where relatives of ISIS fighters and suspected members of the terrorist group are being held.
Recently the situation in the al-Howl went out of control. At least 47 people were murdered in the camp this year only. The ongoing operation will improve the situation. However, it will not likely end ISIS influence there.
