On August 25, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) kicked off the second phase of its security-humanitarian operation in the notorious al-Hawl camp in northeastern Syria.
Al-Hawl camp, which is located in the eastern countryside of al-Hasakah, hosts tens of thousands of people, including foreigners. Many of the camp’s residents are relatives of ISIS terrorists, or suspected members of the group.
The operation’s first phase, which is meant to secure the camp and improve humanitarian situation of its residents, was conducted between March 28 and April 2 of last year. The first phase failed to restore law and order in the camp, where ISIS influence remains strong. Over the past year, ISIS members killed 44 of the camp residents, including 14 women and two children.
Thousands of troops from the SDF, Asayish security forces and the Women’s Protection Units are now taking part in the second phase of the operation.
In a statement released on August 27, the SDF said that the entire first section of al-Hawl was secured in the first three days of the operation’s second phase. The group’s forces also arrested 27 members of ISIS, destroyed two tunnels dug by the terrorists and took down 33 tents which were being used as centers to spread the group’s radical ideology within the camp.
The second phase of the SDF’s security-humanitarian operation in al-Hawl cmap will likely come to an end within a few days.
The results of the second phase will not be better than the first, which failed to neutralize or even contain ISIS threat in the camp. The SDF has been calling for a comprehensive solution, which would see all the foreigner residents of the camp return to their counties. However, many countries, mainly in the West, are still refusing to cooperate.

Look at these pigs helping the US to steal Syrian oil and they even build their own terrorist groups that work under the US to undermine Syria’s statehood.
Kurds are ISIL/Zionist 2.0 in the Middle East, they are slaves of the West, on one hand, the US is using them to steal and support their terrorist group Daesh/PKK/YPG. On the other hand, the West (NATO Turk-isis-stan) is using Kurds to invade Syria.
Kurds in Iraq work heavily with Zionists and yanquis to steal Iraqi lands and oil.
