On June 10, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a security operation in the notorious al-Hawl camp in eastern al-Hasakah.
According to the Hawar News Agency (ANHA), the operation is aimed at reorganizing the section dedicated for foreign wives of ISIS terrorists. The SDF’s Women’s Protection Units, known as the YPJ, are leading the operation.
“Security and military forces participating in the combing campaign are seeking to neutralize the cells that may have been formed by the wives of ISIS mercenaries inside the camp, to reduce the violations that have increased recently in the said section and to remove all the Sharia courts, and the departments training children on ISIS extremist thought, which were established by the women [ISIS wives],” the ANHA’s report reads.
The foreign women section was divided to six areas and a curfew was imposed. All residents and tents are now being inspected.
Around 67,000 people, including 40,000 family members of ISIS fighters, are being held in the camp. The SDF is running the camp with direct support from the U.S.-led coalition.
The SDF and the U.S.-led coalition are taking measures to address the growing threat of ISIS in northeast Syria. A day earlier, the SDF concluded a large-scale security operation that covered southern al-Hasakah and southeastern Deir Ezzor.

Actually, I’m pretty surprised. I figured the U.S. State Department or CENTCOM would have orchestrated mass escape by now. Rounding them up would be like herding cats. Tens of thousands would make their way to the Turkish border, then further on to asylum and their new lives of terror in the EU. There is absolutely no future for their head-chopper kids in al Hawl – not enough infidels.
