Injuries were reported among the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) as a result of an attack on one of its headquarters in the Deir Ezzor countryside.

A number of SDF members were injured in an attack by unknown gunmen on one of their military headquarters in the town of Abu Hamam in the eastern Deir Ezzour countryside.

Unidentified militants in three pickup trucks opened heavy fire on the SDF position located near the water station in the town.

Following that, violent clashes erupted between the two sides, ending with the withdrawal of the attacking militants after they threw an IED at the SDF headquarters.

The thrown IED wounded four “SDF” militants, in addition to destroying part of their headquarters, while the attackers withdrew without having any casualties.

The affiliation of the militants who carried out the attack is unknown, however, SDF points the finger at active ISIS cells.

Minutes after the attack, the SDF brought in military reinforcements that surrounded the town and closed all its exits, while also carrying out raids on several houses in the town in search for the perpetrators of the attack, without being able to capture them.

The headquarters and patrols of the SDF are exposed almost daily to attacks, which reflects its great failure to control the security situation within the areas under its control.

This is especially true in the eastern countryside of Deir Ezzor, where the highest proportion of attacks on SDF positions take place, almost daily.
