On November 6, the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) launched a limited attack inside the town of al-Bahrah, which is located north of the town of Hajin, despite its previous decision to hold its military operations in the middle Euphrates River Valley.
US backed forces were able to recapture all the positions, which they lost to ISIS last week during the first hours of their attack, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR). Currently, the entire town is under control of the SDF.
More than 45 fighters of the terrorist group were reportedly killed in the attack, which was backed by warplanes of the US-led coalition. The SDF media center said that the coalition had carried out 27 airstrikes on ISIS positions on November 6.
The SDF halted its large-scale military operation against the remaining ISIS fighters in the Euphrates Valley on October 31 following a series of setbacks. However, it appears that the US-led coalition is pressuring the Kurdish-dominated group to resume the operation.
Itappears that the US weapons and ammunition transfer to ISIS has been completed and the SDF can now continue to play virtual war with ISIS :)
My thoughts exactly.
SDF probably left a lot behind in their hasty “retreat”. I was thinking this ISIS pocket also holds riches taken from Mosul when they left in large convoy, escorted by US gunships. Not sure how much gold bullion, etc was taken. This would give them leverage to find new recruits and make deals with the local tribes.
Warfare is very expensive, which include pauing for support. By that I only expect vital equipment for warfare fx in logistic and equipment.
I remember 2 big convoys tild as wives and children of ISIS Leaders(soldiers).
I also remember at least some of them went to the main town in the Khabour valley named As Suwar, which was heavy fortified by ISIS.
We will see.
ISIS may have given the gold etc to the US for ‘safe keeping ‘.
I find all this highly suspect.
Shouldn’t they just refer to this as a joint training exercise of American allies?
