In January only, 13 murders occurred in the Al-Hol camp in the countryside of Al-Hasakah, which is under the control of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The camp hosts families and relatives of ISIS members.
Sources reported that the camp had turned into an explosive time bomb, amid fears that it would form a center for the restoration of chaos and the resurgence of ISIS in the region of the Syrian Jazeera.
The source explained that only the last month was marked by 13 killings inside the camp. The killings targeted 9 Iraqi refugees, including a child, 3 women, and 3 Syrian nationals, including a woman and a member of the Asayish security unit of the SDF. The Asayish member was killed in an IED explosion while security forces were pursuing a suspect in the camp.
The source added that the SDF has been trying to reduce the number of those present in the camp in order to be able to control it. This move is a result of the spread of murder crimes and regular breaks from the camp by ISIS-affiliated persons.
Last month, the SDF removed 98 Syrian families from the camp in the framework of clearing it from the Syrian displaced persons. The Kurdish-led group also handed over 7 French children from the camp to a French delegation that took them back to their country.
The camp, which includes ISIS women, has become among the largest sources of the security threat and instability in the region of the Syrian Jazeera. Locals fear that the camp will become a gateway for the ISIS return and spread in the area since Al-Hol is the largest centralized gathering of ISIS-affiliated persons.

Send all the foreigners back to their countries of origin and then send them a bill for their upkeep as well, as for the locals they can rot for a bit longer. Some people joined Isis because they had no choice, ‘join or be considered one of the enemy’, so hopefully they’re the people the SDF are letting out now, but I suspect some of the hard liners will get through the vetting system and rejoin Isis.
Thats not how it works at all. Why should Danes fx take back muslims which lived here but with no danish passport. I dont see that.
Most of those cant even be convicted here, because they have done no crime here.
SDFs hardly are letting any out. They just cant handle those many 1000s becaise they have no coputsystems for it. They also almost has no guard facilities. All soldiers of theirs are used in military jobs.
Countries are as written in the article. France here take a handfull, and thats it.
And yes some of those might rejoin ISIS as well, but most of them will not. Thats how it is and its expected. In the other hand You cant keepo people there forever.
Citizenship Jens, if they have citizenship that’s where they belong, in their own countries jails, their own or adopted countries should pay for their upkeep. Even if there’s been no crime committed in their own country they should still be repatriated to their countries of origin or residence, why should they be able to stay in Syria if they’re not citizens. SDF can’t handle it? the SAA only had 200,000 soldiers to run the whole country but the SDF has 100,000 fighters and only has 3 half governorates to guard/run. And yes you can lock some people up forever, some people never deserve to see the light of day again.
