Security forces have eliminated 14 militants in an exchange of fire in Egypt’s North Sinai, the country’s interior ministry said in a statement on December 23.
According to the statement, security troops raided the militant hideout in the town of El-Arish. 8 militants were killed in a fire exchange on the site. 6 more militants fled the area but were killed in a clash with police officers.
The interior ministry revealed that the eliminated militants had planned attacks on “important and vital facilities,” armed forces and police personnel.
