Unidentified gunmen assassinated a senior officer of the Iraqi National Intelligence Service in Baghdad, according to Iraqi Interior Ministry source.
The officer was identified as Colonel Nibras Farman, was killed on June 7. The gunmen shot his car with silenced Kalashnikovs in front of his house in the Shia-dominated eastern al-Baladiyat area.
The security forces launched an investigation into the incident. The Iraqi government has formed an investigation committee.
According to the reports, Farman was a Shiite-Kurd. He headed the Financial Audit and Budget Department of the intelligence service. According to Sabereen news, he was affiliated with the Financial Supervisory Authority, and he specialized in monitoring cases of financial corruption in the intelligence service.
It is the second such assassination in recent months. In March, another colonel who was also working for the Iraqi intelligence service was assassinated by unidentified gunmen.
