Some senior personals detained in the ongoing “anti-corruption purge” in Saudi Arabia were beaten and tortured during their arrest or subsequent interrogations, Middle East Eye reports:
People inside the royal court also told MEE that the scale of the crackdown, which has brought new arrests each day, is much bigger than Saudi authorities have admitted, with more than 500 people detained and double that number questioned.
Members of the royal family, government ministers and business tycoons were caught up in the sudden wave of arrests orchestrated by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known as MbS, under the banner of an anti-corruption drive.
Some, but not all, of the top figures arrested were singled out for the most brutal treatment, suffering wounds to the body sustained by classic torture methods. There are no wounds to their faces, so they will show no physical signs of their ordeal when they next appear in public.
Some detainees were tortured to reveal details of their bank accounts. MEE is unable to report specific details about the abuse they suffered in order to protect the anonymity of its sources.
The report added that the purge “is creating panic in Riyadh, the Saudi capital, particularly among those associated with the old regime of King Abdullah, who died in 2015, with power then passing to his half-brother, King Salman. Many fear the primary purpose of the crackdown is a move by MBS to knock out all rivals both inside and outside the House of Saud before he replaces his 81-year-old father.”
The Saudi authorities also freezed private accounts of a high number of Saudi figures, including the bank accounts of Prince Mohammed bin Nayef.

I hope they prove me wrong but the Saudi people as a whole aren’t known for being active politically. In fact have they ever been active politically in the last few centuries? As long as I remember they were subject to outside powers coming in and putting a puppet to rule them and indoctrinate them to think and believe a certain way.

Nicolas Fouquet, Fouquet also spelled Foucquet (born 1615, Paris—died March 23, 1680, Pignerol, Fr.), French finance minister in the early years of the reign of Louis XIV, the last surintendant (as opposed to contrôleur général), whose career ended with his conviction for embezzlement.
Born the son of a wealthy shipowner and royal administrator, Fouquet was a supporter of the powerful Cardinal Mazarin and of the royal government during the turmoil of the Fronde (1648–53). He purchased the post of procureur général to the Parlement of Paris in 1650, and in 1653 he was appointed surintendant des finances. To aid Mazarin, who in return upheld him, Fouquet lent considerable sums to the treasury, making himself, in effect, banker to the King; his numerous financial operations, which he conducted in an irregular way (though not contrary to the usage of the times), made him extremely rich.
After Mazarin’s death (March 1661), Jean-Baptiste Colbert, Mazarin’s personal intendant and closest confidant, sought to succeed Fouquet as finance minister by destroying his reputation with the King. Colbert revealed irregularities in Fouquet’s accounts and denounced the financial operations by which he had enriched himself. Fouquet was arrested in September 1661, and his trial, which lasted three years, excited great public interest. Colbert suppressed the papers that would have proved Mazarin’s personal responsibility for many of the financial transactions in question, but Fouquet defended himself cleverly, and public opinion turned in his favour. On Dec. 20, 1664, he was condemned to banishment, but Louis XIV “commuted” the sentence to life imprisonment. Fouquet was taken to the fortress of Pignerol, where he died just before a measure of clemency could be issued.

KSA cleaning up its act on corruption is overdue. That they combine this with consolidating power within a faction seems to be a fact of life in the KSA and this is not the first time in the KSA or any arab state.
There is hardly any doubt all those arrested are involved in large scale blatant corruption.
There might even be a connection the KSA emptying money pockets.
I have no clue that how Saudi Arabia will come out from this selfmade chaos for their ownself because if you hurt one tribe person in Saudi Arabia and then you fly to moon then still you cannot protect yourself from his revenge on the surface of the moon. All these princes belong to different tribes because these princes are from different wives of Kings. In Saudi Arabia Kings had married several dozens wives from different tribes.

I am against corporal punishments in general.
Having said this, I tend to make an exception for this bunch of guys. They are the ones responsible for the present KSA with its stonings, canings, beheadings and hangings for sometimes insignificant “crimes”. So they being beaten could not happen to a more deserving group of almost subhumans.
