ISIS cells have carried out two separate attacks against pro-Syrian government troops in the country’s vast central region.

The first attack took place on January 7. ISIS terrorists targeted a vehicle of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on Ithriyah road in eastern Hama with an improvised explosive device (IED). An officer of the Air Force Intelligence Directorate’s 25th Special Tasks Division was killed in the attack.

The second attack took place in western Deir Ezzor. A vehicle of the Palestinian pro-government al-Quds Brigade was struck with an IED, which had been planted by ISIS terrorists near the town of Kobajjep. A field commander  was killed and three fighters were injured.

ISIS cells in the central region launched dozens of attacks against the SAA and its allies from their main stronghold, the Homs desert, over the last few months.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the SAA and pro-government forces are combing the central region’s desert in search for ISIS cells nonstop.

Warplanes and attack helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces are reportedly providing Syrian troops operating in the central region with close air support.

“Russian jets have intensified their strikes, targeting positions in the deserts of al-Raqqa, Hama and Homs with nearly 70 airstrikes since last night,” the London-based monitoring group said in a report on January 8.

Despite these efforts, ISIS influence continues to grow in Syria’s central region. The terrorist group’s cells are reportedly receiving support from US-backed fighters based in the nearby area of al-Tanf.

All roads lead to Al Tanf.

occupybacon

It’s a region with high mountains and deep forests and nobody can see through.

That can’t stop missiles or bomber aircraft, also how does the US get their people and supplies into the place?

US risks confrontation with Russia President Vladimir Putin at this annual press conference in Moscow on December 17 suggest that the Kremlin has had a rethink on the policy of “strategic patience” pursued so far and may allow the armed forces to act assertively in the face of US provocations. Putin underscored emphatically that Russia not only outmatches the US with the hypersonic weapons it has developed, but “we are working, among other things, on the ‘antidote’ against future hypersonic weapons in other countries… I am confident we will do that and we are on the right path.” M. Most of the Isis activity is taking place at least 150 km away from the US base at Al Tanf, so Isis must have one hell of a logistical supply line, 150 km through enemy territory and the mail still gets through every time. Which wouldn’t say much for the SAA efforts to cut those lines, that’s if there were any lines to cut, but there aren’t, the only logistic lines Isis has are to southern and northern areas of Deir ez Zor, and to Turkey. And why doesn’t Isis attack the governorates just south of Al Tanf, they used to attack the civilians in Rif Dimashq and As Suwayda all the time, but they haven’t done that for a very long time now, they just attack the northern governorates like Hama, Ar Raqqah, and southern Deir ez Zor. And Isis could hide in the rough terrain just south of Al Tanf way easier than they can the open deserts to the north, which means they’re actually taking the most open and vulnerable routes to attack the SAA, and avoiding the easy to hide in rough mountainous, volcanic, slaggy terrain to the south, so are Isis acting like idiots or is someone just lying to us. It took many months for the SAA and Russia to drive Isis out of the areas just south of Al Tanf last time Isis was operating in the south, so Isis must’ve forgotten just how successful they were down here before, isn’t that lucky. Isis does have more domestic support in the north and none at all in As Suwayda, but Rif Dimashq right next door still offers some support for Isis, so it’s not like it’s not feasible for Isis to start attacking areas of Rif Dimashq and As Suwayda, in fact they’re both closer to Al Tanf than the other locations Isis is currently operating. Lord save us from stupidity and the LGBTQI movement. Here’s some interesting news from syrialiveuamaps,

“Iranian Forces are bringing their forces in the Mayadin-Bukamal Badiyah to the cities of Al-Bukamal-Al-Mayadin,The Iranians are expecting a wide range Aerial Campaign on their positions”.

This is the second time this month, mmm, I wonder what’s spooked them this time, or do they really have a good reason to worry this time around, I’ll be checking my sources intently for the next few days to see if they were right or not.

Jordan is south of Al Tanf. The US took positions there to block ISIS from using the improved roads that met there for running men and materials into Syria and to keep additional refugees from fleeing into Jordan. The US built camps for them there because Jordan simply couldn’t handle any more. US military intelligence estimated that up to 15,000 of ISIS’s higher value fighters simply went into hiding at pre-arranged locations as the SAA forces advanced because they had plenty of cash on hand to buy the loyalty of poverty stricken Syrians. The ISIS fighters that the SAA slew then and afterwards were considered to be expendable. There was one large group of ISIS fighters west of the phosphate mines and fairly close to Damascus that realized they had been abandoned so launched a sudden attack to the west with hopes to reach Lebanon. They initially made some headway then got wiped out.
