On April 16 morning, unknown militants ambushed a vehicle of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in Daraa’s northern countryside.
The UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said the ambush took place on the road linking the towns of Izraa and Buser al-Harir. The militants attacked the SAA’s vehicle with machine guns.
“As a result [of the ambush], at least three personnel [of the SAA] were killed and two others sustained varying wounds,” the monitoring group’s report reads.
Sham FM, a pro-government radio station, confirmed that an ambush took place near Izraa. However, the station said only two soldiers were killed by the militants.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack, yet. However, ISIS cells are known to be active in Daraa, especially in the governorate’s northern and eastern countryside. Furthermore, some radical militants are still operating in Daraa as “lone wolfs.”
Dozens of similar attacks have targeted SAA troops and former rebels in southern Syria since the region was liberated in mid-2018. These attacks are a clear attempt to destabilize the region.
So for terrorists in Syria, it’s back to lone ambushes. Back to where they began. No more keepers of the ‘faith’, just desperate bandits looking for an easy target.
Maybe they just missed the old days and wanted to get a blast from the past. Me thinks that blast is waiting for them in the future, and it’s got karma stamped all over it.
Totally agree, that day is coming, they are comic, we just need to be patient.
didn’t they lasted an operation recently
