Several Turkish Soldiers Killed In New Raqqa Explosion: SANA

Support SouthFront

A number of Turkish soldiers were killed on January 23 in a car bomb attack in the northern Raqqa countryside, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported.

Local sources told the state-run agency that the explosion took place in the outskirt of the town of Hamam Turkman. Several Turkish soldiers and Turkish-baked Syrian militants were reportedly killed in the attack.

“Ambulances of the Turkish occupation headed to the site of the explosion and transported the bodies of the dead as well as the wounded to Turkish territory,” the SANA’s report reads.

If the report is confirmed, the car bomb attack will be the latest in a series of similar explosions, which targeted Turkish forces and their proxies in northeast Syria.

On December 5, four Turkish service members, including two officers, were killed when two car bombs blew up in the vicinity of the Turkish-occupied town of Ras al-Ayn in the northern al-Hasakah countryside.

Less than six weeks later, an explosives-laden car exploded inside headquarters of the so-called Syrian National Army (SAN) in the town of Suluk in northern Raqqa, killing three other Turkish service members.

Turkey claims that Kurdish forces are behind these attacks. However, there is no evidence to support these accusations, which appear to be politically motivated.
