Signal Of Offensive: Russians Intensify Strikes In Slavyansk-Kramatorsk

Illustrative Image

The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation are escalating massive drone strikes in the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk urban agglomeration that is still under control of the Ukrainian army in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The growing number of Geran UAVS targeting the towns suggest not just improved Russian military reconnaissance but also a deliberate effort to disrupt reinforcements and weaken enemy morale ahead of anticipated offensives.

On the morning of April 15th, another series of strikes by Russian Geran drones destroyed multiple military facilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the town of Slavyansk, signaling a shift from indiscriminate attacks to precision strikes on Ukrainian troop concentrations and command nodes in the rear settlement.

According to preliminary reports from the battlefield, the key targets destroyed in the morning attack included temporary military bases of the 54th Mechanized Brigade of the AFU. Two separate locations housing Ukrainian military personnel were struck. The brigade, already suffering heavy losses near Chasiv Yar, now faces further degradation of its reserves, complicating frontline rotation. Another direct strike destroyed command post of the 18th National Guard Brigade, which is operating closely with the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The devastating strikes indicate an attempt of the Russian military to demolish enemy rear-line management together with frontline command.

Another massive attack in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk was launched on April 14th, targeting key facilities being used as temporary bases by elite Ukrainian units. The destroyed targets included Kramatorsk Ferroalloy Plant, serving as a temporary base for the 12th Special Forces Brigade “Azov” and the command battalion of the 81st Separate Airmobile Brigade. Simultaneous attacks destroyed at least two strategic locations used for troop housing and engineering material storage in Slavyansk. Ukrainian hideout were destroyed on Lesnaya Street and the former ceramics factory on Geologicheskaya Street.

Unfortunately, the Ukrainian military does not stop hiding military bases in civilian infrastructure, including hospitals with civilians being treated on upper floors, while lower levels and basements host military command centers, logistics hubs, and equipment storage. This terrorist tactics is aimed at creating a legal and propaganda shield and blame Russians for alleged war crimes.

Devastating Russian strikes leave Ukrainian troops with disrupted logistics, thwarted rotation and weakened communication and command on a wide front, particularly complicating defense in Chasov Yar.
