Six Syrian Soldiers Wounded In New Daraa Attack

Illustrative image.

On June 4, a vehicle carrying supplies for Syrian Arab Army (SAA) troops in the eastern countryside of Daraa came under attack.

An improvised explosive device stuck the vehicle as it was passing on a road to the south of the town of Elnaymah. According to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the explosion wounded at least six soldiers of the SAA.

Following the attack, the SAA placed its troops in the eastern Daraa countryside on high alert. The army also deployed reinforcements near Elnaymah and blocked several roads leading to the town.

No side has claimed responsibility for the attack, so far. However, ISIS remains the main suspect. The terrorist group’s cells are known to be present and active in the eastern countryside of Daraa.

Dozens of attacks and assassinations were reported in Daraa in the last few weeks. One of the most recent assassination attempt, which took place on June 3, targeted Mustafa Qassem al-Masalma, the commander of a local pro-government force. Al-Masalma, also known as al-Kasm, is reportedly very close to the Military Intelligence Directorate.

The security situation in Daraa appears to be deteriorating once again. Unrest could force Syrian government forces to conduct a new operation in the governorate very soon.

Squabbling like a flock of seagulls over a bag of soggy chips Stpiod of you ask me Itadecsense when the richest led the charge but ever since they’ve been hiding as too precious to endanger the peasants lives by being up front or even within cooee of the action, I think peasants that pen nothing and never will going to war are mental cases.
