In the Kupyansk direction, Russian units reached the crossings over the Oskol River from the Kupyansk and Sadovoye sides, leading to the operational encirclement of Ukrainian forces on the left bank. In Sumy direction, assault groups of the “North” advanced on seventeen sectors up to 400 meters and repelled a mechanized counterattack by Ukrainian brigades in the Mogritsa area. In the Kharkiv direction, units of the 128th and 34th Guards Motorized Rifle Brigades established full control over Bely Kolodez and Ustinovka, expanding the security zone. In the Dobropolye direction, Russian forces are fighting on the outskirts of Petrovka and Novogrigorovka, aiming to cut the supply route near Rusin Yar. In the Slaviansk direction, assault groups captured most of Vasyutinskoye and are developing an offensive toward Pervomaryevka, while simultaneously expanding the gray zone west of Rai-Aleksandrovka. According to the Ukrainian Minister of Agricultural Policy, direct losses to the country’s agricultural sector due to problems with Black Sea ports could reach three billion dollars.
Kupyansk direction
The situation for Ukrainian units is steadily deteriorating on both banks of the Oskol River. On the left bank, Russian forces of the “West” grouping pushed through the defense from Kurilovka through Kupyansk-Uzlovoy and reached the crossings connecting the city with Kupyansk and Sadovoye. As a result, Ukrainian forces on the left bank found themselves either fully or operationally encircled, deprived of supply and overland withdrawal routes.
Ukrainian troops in Kupyansk-Uzlovoy no longer risk openly marking their presence. Full control over the city, given the terrain and defense layout, can be established by Russian forces after reaching the heights west of it. The next objective is the fortified area near Novoosinovo. To the south, “West” units are cutting off the Ukrainian grouping in the Borovaya and Podliman area.
Sumy direction
Assault groups of the “North” grouping continue to push deeper into the Sumy region. Strikes were carried out against concentrations of personnel and equipment of Ukrainian units in the areas of the city of Sumy, the village of Sadki, Ulanovo, Bunyakino, the settlement of Khoten, Ulyanovka, Yampol, Volnaya Sloboda, Tolstodubovo, Putivl, and Krasnopolie.
In the Shostka district, firefights are ongoing in Ulanovo and on the approaches to Volnaya Sloboda. In the Sumy district, Russian assault units advanced on seventeen sectors, with a total advance of up to 400 meters. Firefights continue in Ryzhevka, Pisarevka, Marino, the settlement of Khoten, adjacent territories, and in forest areas south of Ivolzhanskoye.
Ukrainian units attempted a counterattack using assault groups from the 47th separate mechanized brigade and troops from the 21st separate mechanized brigade, who advanced on ATVs from the vicinity of Barilovka toward Russian positions near Mogritsa. As a result of comprehensive fire engagement, the mobile equipment and most of the attacking personnel were eliminated.
Kharkiv direction
Russian assault units are conducting offensive operations in the settlement of Kazachya Lopan and adjacent forests. As a result of a firefight, units of the 58th separate motorized infantry brigade of Ukrainian forces abandoned their positions east of Kazachya Lopan, while Russian aviation struck a concentration of Ukrainian troops on the southern outskirts of the settlement and in neighboring Novaya Kazachya.
In the Volchansk sector, assault units of the “North” advanced on four sectors up to 300 meters. Firefights continue in the village of Ivanovka, in Baksheevka, near Shevchenkovo, and in the forests of the Volchansk district. Assault units of the 128th separate motorized rifle brigade of the “North” grouping completed the defeat of encircled Ukrainian forces in the settlement of Bely Kolodez and fully established control over it.
In the Velikiy Burluk direction, assault groups continue firefights west of Petro-Ivanovka and in Aniskino. Assault units of the 34th Guards separate motorized rifle brigade (mountain) pushed troops of the 129th separate tank brigade and the 159th separate mechanized brigade of Ukrainian forces out of the village of Ustinovka and captured this settlement.
Slaviansk direction
Russian units attempted to enter Fyodorovka but have not yet been able to consolidate directly in the settlement; fighting on the approaches continues. Most of Vasyutinskoye has come under Russian control. At the same time, offensive operations are developing toward the outskirts of Pervomaryevka. Additional assault group activity is recorded west of Malinovka, where Russian forces are attempting to expand their presence zone and improve their position on adjacent sectors. The overall configuration of actions indicates an intention to create a threat of enveloping Pervomaryevka from the east and south.
The gray zone is gradually expanding west of Rai-Aleksandrovka and east of the residential areas of Nikolaevka. The line of contact remains blurred, and control over individual positions is unstable. Russian units are consistently increasing their presence, advancing in small assault groups and regularly committing reinforcements to battle. The ability to maintain a high tempo of offensive operations remains one of the main factors of pressure on the Ukrainian defense in this sector.
After establishing control over Toretskoye, Russian forces continue their advance toward Druzhkovka. Fighting is underway on the outskirts of Petrovka and Novogrigorovka. In this sector, Ukrainian units have a significant number of fortifications covering Kramatorsk and Druzhkovka. Aviation is providing support to assault groups, striking Ukrainian targets across the Kramatorsk–Druzhkovka agglomeration. Beyond the advance near Rayskoye, Russian forces are targeting the supply route: cutting it would bring Ukrainian groups in the pocket north of Rusin Yar under fire control. Overall, there is visible momentum in the Russian advance on the northern part of the Dobropolye salient and from the western side of Druzhkovka.
Conclusion
In the Kupyansk, Sumy, Kharkiv, and Slaviansk directions, Russian units continue to exert systematic pressure, expanding their control zones and inflicting losses on the Ukrainian side. The encirclement of Ukrainian forces on the left bank of the Oskol near Kupyansk and the advance to the crossings create a threat of complete elimination of the bridgehead. In the Sumy region, the repulse of mechanized counterattacks and the advance on a broad front are forcing the Ukrainian command to expend reserves. In the Kharkiv region, the capture of Bely Kolodez and Ustinovka consolidates control over key defense nodes and expands the security zone along the border. In the Slaviansk direction, the capturing of Vasyutinskoye and pressure on Pervomaryevka are gradually eroding the defense on the approaches to the agglomeration.
According to Reuters, Ukrainian Minister of Agricultural Policy Taras Vysotsky stated that direct losses to the country’s agricultural sector due to problems with Black Sea ports this year could range from 1.5 to 3 billion dollars. Alternative grain export routes—via the Danube, rail, and road transport—can cover only half the volumes previously handled by sea. According to the minister, these routes will reach the necessary capacity no earlier than the end of August, and additional costs for producers will amount to $45-50 per ton at current price levels. Ukrainian producers are already feeling the effects of the logistics crisis: prices for oilseeds and grains have dropped by an average of 30 percent.
