Amid the US Senate elections, the media launched active discussions of the possibility of the negotiations between Kiev and Moscow. Reports by the MSM that Washington allegedly inclines Kiev not to abandon diplomacy are largely explained by the pre-election situation in Washington. They didn’t want to use it because they hoped for a diplomatic solution, but when the USA made Russia believe that Ukraine was invading Donbass, Putin ordered to start the SMO. It is clear as day to me that Russia has ordered a retreat from Kherson for political/diplomatic reasons. The retreat is not because of military strategy. If it was, the retreat would have been ordered by Surovikin, an army man, not Shoigu, a politician. This coming on the same day that they announced the “death” of Kiril Stresoumov. Like other high ranking officials, their fake death was set up by the FSB. He is alive.
This is all to prepare the terrain for negotiations to take place. Russia will ask for formal recognition of so far occupied Ukrainian territory, the promise that Ukraine will never join NATO and demilitarization of areas close to Donetsk in a range of 50 km. The US and Europe will push the Ukrainians to sue for peace. That way, Russia will start re-exporting gas and oil to Europe and the US will shift their attention to China.

Putin wanted a negotiated peace since the very beginning! In April, the Russians had accepted to withdraw to the Feb 24th line of contact, in exchange for Ukraine staying demilitarized/neutral with security guarantees by other countries.
Do you really think any of that is possible now? No matter what Putin may have wanted he ended up with a war. I have said it many times on here and that is what he has. Even if he refuses to fight it or acknowledge it , it is still there. As silly as it sounds it is simple they either win that war or they lose. Right now it looks a lot more like the possibility is loss. No sanctions will be removed no matter the outcome of negotiations. No recognition of land will ever be had… just like Crimea will not be recognized. The West will offer him to withdraw from all Ukraine lands and pay for the invasion. They are already trying to move Russias gold and money they confiscated to this purpose.
The only option left for Russia was to crush its enemy in a way that left no doubts about its abilities and we can clearly see that did not take place either. There was a ton of propaganda about how Russia itself was under threat and would be dissolved etc. Right now that is a real possibility. If Russia can not turn it around and defeat Ukraine on the battle field it is finished as it is today. It will be relegated to little status and no consideration while picked apart and divided. Not by the west but by its own being cheered on and led by the West.
Russia needs to fight the war it is in. However no actions on there part show any willingness to due it nor the ability to do so. No grain deals, no gestures of good will. Those who have been in charge must all be replaced by better or Russia will wither and end. So it will be up to the Russian people to decide… they will either allow it to die a slow death or they will demand it take the actions required and demand that its leaders fight….that its people fight.
