Forces of Russia, DPR and LPR are developing their slow but steady advance in the region of Donbass.
On March 22, the Russian Defense Ministry announced that Russian forces advanced another 6 kilometers and captured the town of Urozhajnoe in the region of Donetsk in eastern Ukraine. According to Russia, they are now fighting with units of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Meanwhile, troops of the Donetsk People’s Republic penetrated 4 kilometers deep into the defence of the 25th Airborne Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. DPR forces have been working to capture the towns of Kamenka, Novoselovka II, and Verhnetoreckoe.
Additionally, DPR units advanced up to 5 kilometers in the direction of Kurakhovo.
“Units of the Donetsk Republic destroyed a company of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade and units of the assault battalion of the 54th Separete Mechanized Brigade of Ukrainian troops, capturing Slavnoe, Trudovskoi, Shahta Chelyuskintsev and Mar’inka,” the Russian statement added.
During the day, 3 battle tanks, 4 infantry fighting vehicles, 4 field artillery guns and 6 all-terrain vehicles were destroyed in this area.
Operation in the direction of Marinka:
Units of the Russian Armed Forces and the DPR continue the operation to clear the city of Mariupol from the vestiges of Kyiv’s forces:
Forces of the Lugansk People’s Republic established control over the villages of Kalinovo-Popasnoe, Novoaleksandrovka, Stepnoe and Boguslavskoe. LPR units are working to destroy units of the 30th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. More than 40 personnel and 5 all-terrain vehicles of Kyiv’s forces were destroyed.
A Russian column with supplies moves in Kharkiv Region towards the area of Izum:
The Russian military announced that operational-tactical and army aviation hit 137 military assets of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. These targets included 6 command posts and communication hubs, 2 multiple launch rocket systems, 1 anti-aircraft missile system, 8 missile and artillery weapons depots, as well as 101 areas of military equipment concentration.

Also, Russian air defense means shot down 14 more Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles in the air, including 1 Bayraktar TB-2. Meanwhile, the group of Ka-52 and Mi-28N helicopters destroyed 9 Ukrainian tanks, 7 infantry fighting vehicles and armored personnel carriers during night strikes.
The Russian side reports that since the start of the operation Russian forces have destroyed 230 unmanned aerial vehicles, 181 anti-aircraft missile systems, 1,528 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 154 multiple launch rocket systems, 602 field artillery and mortars, as well as 1,312 units of special military vehicles of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Yeah if you watch Russian TV. Russian forces only have three days of food and ammunition stockpiled, Ukraine’s military says Russia’s stockpiles of ammunition and food will last for “no more than three days”, according to the Ukrainian military.
In its latest operational report, which cannot be verified, it said Russian forces were suffering with fuel shortages and were being mobilised “chaotically”.
It adds to continued reports of a disorganised invasion by Russia, which has failed to take key cities or topple the Ukrainian government.
Earlier, the UK Ministry of Defence said Russian forces had “endured yet another day of limited progress, with most forces largely stalled in place”.

There have been quite a few. Number keeps growing, but that is largely due to these drones being sent to Ukraine whenever possible. There was an official order of these assets purchased from Turkey, though it is likely that western states most likely secured additional drones and have supplied them when needed. Most of the drones Russia has shot down in the count vary from small recon drones, to medium sized drones. The effectiveness of any drones force used directly by Ukrainian forces however is questionable as they do not have control over their own skies. Then again, Russian forces are taking hits from these drones regularly, though these are minimal in effectiveness given that the there has been minimal deterrence to Russian operations.
These Turkish drones are between $1-2 million each depending on deal, so the Ukrainian debt on these is ever growing. The US-EU gives money to Ukraine who then use it to put down-payment on drones from a further NATO country, Turkey. Then Ukraine has load of debt to US-EU and Turkey, AND the NATO military industrial complex is the beneficiary. Its a whoa-to-go financial scam that involves a lot of grafting backhanders all the way down the political line. And in the end, most of these drones will be gone, eventually shot down by Russia.
How are they getting in? Through Poland?
Ukraine was stocked up over last year. AUF/Asov were going to attack Donbas – Donetsk and Lugansk – with big Ukrainian offensive. Russia got wind of it and struck first. If Russia can find where the reserve drones are stored the can get them in warehouses.

Even if that was true they can’t get more than half of those working. 100 destroyed tanks per week is not bad that takes it to 5000 + tanks in a year. Plus tanks are pretty much useless in urban combat.

The Ukrainians need to think for themselves: even if the Russian advance is slowed and even if it is stalled in places, how would that equate to Ukraine winning? Of course it doesn’t. In a war of attrition Ukraine cannot win. They have far less men. They have far less weapons in terms of missiles and advanced offensive equipment. Russia can throw more regiments at the situation and Belarus are itching for a fight.
War of attrition. They can fight forever. Eastern Ukraine will be completely depopulated and Russians will enter empty cities with traps at every corner, ambushes, rocket launchers and snipers. They will be stationed in an empty wasteland where they’ll be shot at from everywhere. Poutine doesn’t have the population to repopulate the devastated cities, he can’t reallocate millions of Russians from their towns and villages into a disputed warzone. Who in the world will be crazy enough to want to live there? Pacifying Ukraine is an impossible goal by force. It can only be done through negotiations.

I am surprised by the lack of official reaction from Russia to Turkey’s sending Gayraptor drones to Ukraine. Turkey buys weapons from Russia and they trade in other commodities. But surely Russia has to draw a line in the sand in terms of the current military support Turkey is providing to Ukraine.
