According to preliminary report from the front, the Russian military is destroying strategically important bridges in the town of Kupyansk, while its troops are advancing on the outskirts.
The local reports claimed that at least one of the bridges across the Oskol River in Kupyansk was destroyed. The traffic was stopped along the road. There are two main bridges that link the two parts of the town. The road one was reportedly damaged, the second bridge is the rail one.
The destruction of bridges in Kupyansk is strategically important for the Russian military which is already advancing in the area. This will largely impact Ukrainian military logistics in the entire region and supply their grouping in the town which is an important stronghold of the AFU in the Donbass. Destruction of the bridges across the Oskol River was one of the main reasons of the Russian withdrawal from the region last year.
Russian forces destroying Ukrainian military equipment in the area:
Meanwhile, the Russian military continues offensive in the Kupyansk region. Russian troops from the Zapad group of forces are storming Ukrainian positions in the area of Sinkovka on the north-eastern outskirts of the town. The village is partially surrounded from several directions. Under Russian artillery shelling and airstrikes, Ukrainian forces are retreating from their military positions. The AFU have recently transferred reinforcements to the area, weakening their operations near Bakhmut. However, the manoeuvres of the Ukrainian military are yet bring any results and stop the Russian advance.
If the reports about the destruction of the bridges across the Oskol River are confirmed, the Ukrainian grouping which is currently fighting to the east of Kupyansk may find itself cut off from the Ukrainian main forces.
