Step By Step: Russian Troops Pursue Offensive In Eastern Ukraine

The Vremyevka direction: battles for Velyka Novosyolka, Russian troops take fire control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ supply route on the Zaporizhzhia front.

The Kurakhove direction: the Russian army gained a number of settlements and continues the assault on the city.

Situation in the sky

Over the past 24 hours, Russian Geranium UAVs struck facilities in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Dnipropetrovsk and Khmelnytskyi regions. As a result of it, a chisel factory in Drohobych, the Lviv Region, was completely destroyed.

The media are circulating information about the closure of the sky from 27 to 30 November in the area of the Kapustin Yar missile range (Astrakhan Region, Russia). This may implicitly indicate the preparation for a new launch of the hypersonic missile “Oreshnik”.

Ukrainian UAVs attacked the Belgorod and Rostov Regions, but were destroyed. In addition, 25 Ukrainian UAVs were shot down by Russian air defense systems over the Black Sea and the Crimean Peninsula. In total, the Russian air defense forces shot down 54 Ukrainian fixed-wing UAVs during the day.

Along with that, the Ukrainian armed forces (AFU) carried out six attacks with copter-type drones and launched two artillery strikes on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and the local town of Enerhodar.

All drones were shot down by air defense systems or jammed by anti-electronic warfare equipment. There were no casualties or damage as a result of the provocation. The personnel of the Zaporizhzhia NPP continues to work on a regular basis, the radiation environment in the vicinity of the nuclear plant is normal.

Situation on the fronts

Heavy fighting is going on in the Kursk Region. The Russian Northern group of forces has advanced towards the settlements of Daryino and Nizhny Klin, while the Ukrainians counterattacked three times, using armored vehicles.

Personnel of the Black Sea Fleet’s Marine Brigade have taken the AFU long-term fortified positions in the Kursk Region. The Ukrainian forces blocked in the Olgovsky Forest area tried to hold the defense for several weeks, but finally were defeated.

As a result of continuous AFU actions monitoring by drones, it was possible in the shortest time to find the key points of resistance and to dislodge the Ukrainian units from their strongholds. The Russian assault squads were advancing from several directions at once.

There are tens of units of NATO-made military equipment burned on the roads near the destroyed Ukrainian stronghold. Russian marines of the Black Sea Fleet managed to seize foreign-made weapons and military equipment – American and Swedish grenade launchers as well as many copters.

Meanwhile, Russian anti-missile defense missiles launched 4 missile strikes on storage sites of HIMARS and MLRS in the Sumy Region. In addition, the Russian Tornado-S complex hit the AFU’s reserves concentrated near the village of Pisarevka.

According to the Russian MOD, the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost more than 250 servicemen during the day. Two tanks, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored personnel carrier, two armored combat vehicles, three automobiles and a mortar were destroyed.

In the Vremyevka direction, the Russian Army is advancing in the vicinity of Razdolnoye, pushing through the Ukrainian defenses in the forests east of Velyka (Bolshaya) Novosyolka. The situation for the AFU is characterized as “difficult”. At the same time, from the southwest, Russian troops are conducting an offensive from the area of Rovnopol.

The Russians have taken control of the AFU’s supply routes in Velyka Novosyolka. The advanced units of the Russian Army have started fighting in the southeastern part of the settlement, entering it between the beds of the Shaitanka and Kashlagach rivers. The Russian Army made a mighty wise decision to conduct the assault precisely so that the enemy in the village could not use the waterways as an asset to counteract it. The point is that the river-beds divide Velyka Novoselka into several parts, where each of them can stand as an independent sector in the overall defense system. Russian troops struck just at the defensive core of the Ukrainian army in this locality. It automatically devalues the Ukrainian positions in the southern parts of Velyka Novosyolka, as well as in the small villages nearby. But this is only one of the reasons for the failure of the AFU defense there.

In order to avoid the scenario of leaving the half-encirclement under heavy fire from Russian troops, the Ukrainian side may undertake an organized withdrawal in the nearest future (as long as at least one safe road remains under its control).

In the Kurakhove direction, Russian forces continue their rapid advance both on the outskirts of the city and south of it (fighting is still ongoing near Romanovka, Ilyinka, Elizavetovka and Trudovoye).

In general, the Russian Army is developing the offensive and retaining the initiative. Thus, it is reported that units of the Russian Southern group of troops have successfully taken the village of Novaya Ilyinka. This was preceded by the clearing of a large stronghold east of the village.

The Kurakhove direction: assault on the Ilyinka settlement

A significant move by the Russian Armed Forces was also detected in the fields north of Ilyinka. The units then managed to reach the outskirts of Romanovka.

In the city of Kurakhove itself, fierce fighting continues in the urban area. Ukrainian units are carrying out local counterattacks in an attempt to stabilize the situation. As the city combat is extremely dynamic, the front line in Kurakhove is quite tentative at the moment.

To the south, Russian troops are advancing towards the N-15 highway from the Dalneye settlement side. To the west, they are also making progress in the forest belt towards Yantarnoye.

At the same time, Russian units have captured Yelizavetovka. Covered by armored vehicles, they managed to rapidly break the AFU defenses in the village and reach its western outskirts. Later it became known that the Russians also took control of the Lesnaya Dacha grove, the capture of which opens the way to Vesely Gai from the south.

In the Kharkiv direction, fighting continues in Volchansk. The AFU tried to break through the Russian defenses in the forests near Liptsy, throwing three assault groups with the M113 armored vehicles into the battle.

In the Pokrovsk direction, the zone of the Russian Armed Forces control in the vicinity of Petrovka is expanding.

In the Konstantinovka direction, Russian units continue to develop tactical initiative, conducting assault operations in key areas of the Chasov Yar front sector. The situation in the city and its vicinity remains tense, which is due to fierce Ukrainian resistance and the use of mining tactics during the retreat.
