According to Ukrainian reports, a grouping of up to 14,500 Ukrainian militants was blocked in the city of Mariupol. After fierce clashes, this number has significantly reduced. The both sides are suffering heavy losses in bloody clashes on the streets. Civilian casualties are also difficult to avoid.
The population of the city is about 400,000 people. Most of them are still in hostage. No mass evacuation was organized before the Russian military came to the city outskirts. Numerous attempts to ensure the safety of humanitarian corridors have been thwarted.

On March 14, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed that the outskirts of Mariupol were mainly secured, and mass evacuation from these areas began.
After the agreement was reached with the local authorities, the Mariupol-Zaporozhye humanitarian corridor was opened. As of the morning of March 15, about 250 cars reached Zaporozhye without any accidents.
Despite the hopes of nationalists blocked in the city, it was reported that the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine decided to abandon the idea of trying to unblock Mariupol from the northern direction.
Members of the Ukrainian nationalist battalions and other servicemen of the AFU were left on their own, without any military support and supplies.
Despite the dire situation, Ukrainian militants continue their fierce resistance.
On March 14, Azov battalion claimed the destruction of the alleged temporary base of Russian forces as a result of the artillery strike on the outskirts of Mariupol.
They also shared footage of the Russian equipment destroyed in the city.

On the other side, Russian forces are advancing deep in the city, slowly destroying nationalists positions street by street.
Chechen forces came to Mariupol to support the Russian and DPR mop up operations in the city. Kadyrov claimed that the cleanup of Mariupol is personally led by the deputy of the State Duma Adam Delimkhanov.
He also confirmed that the nationalists occupied the Azovstal Metallurgical Plant. The liberation of such a large facility may take time, as the Ukrainian fighters have dispersed over its entire area. Chechen forces involved in the operation continue to mop up the territory of the facility.
Another large industrial facility the Ilyich Metallurgical Plant located on the outskirts is under the AFU control.
Meanwhile, Russian military reporters who are accompanying Russian and and DPR assault troops share videos showing the street fighting in the Mariupol outskirts.

Right. The US and NATO’s multi-decade hybrid war against Russia was no big deal. Once the Ukraine got into NATO, NATO was likely to have turned into a food truck operation, selling exotic tacos and soups and the like across the Eurasian landmass. Zelensky’s clamouring for nuclear weapons was misinterpreted. He was talking about new kinds of hot sauce.
Putin’s position is not irrational or invalid. Basically, he’s looking at US/NATO’s growing military presence in Ukraine the same way that Americans perceived the Soviets 1962 build-up in Cuba. Same difference, really.
I’m not saying Putin’s argument is right or wrong. I’m just saying that the argument is real. People should try to look at this situation from the perspective Putin and other Russians who have a traditional, conservative mindset about Russia’s national security.
I am very, very surprised that the US and NATO didn’t try harder to find a peaceful solution to this conflict, long before Russia decided to start hostilities. I have always thought that a peaceful solution to the issue could have been reached.
Putin was correct to seek security guarantees, but he should have been a more patient negotiator. This war was a mistake. He has sacrificed the Russian economy, the Russian military and the Russian people to his megalomaniac ambitions. It will take decades for Russia and Ukraine to recover. Ukraine will have to recover from the wanton destruction bring rained down in it by Russia. Russia will have to recover from the isolation and loss of commerce with the west. What was gained by this insanity? Nothing!! Just death and destruction!

Tell me what Russia can possibly gain by this war. Put that on the plus side of the ledger. Then book the costs on the debit side. It is clear that this war is a loser for the Russian people and doubly so for the Ukrainian people.
You may hate the neo-cons; the state department; the pentagon; the CIA. But give me a break. The American people are disconnected from all the machinations of these deep state pLayers. What do you think guys, should Russia open a new front at Odessa? Apparently there is a naval flotilla heading to Odessa now. I would have thought that forces are already overstretched and cities like Kharkiv are draining resources. Maybe consolidation is required and a focus on Kiev?
I don’t think you understand that the force deployment size in Ukraine is smaller than some recent drills the Russian Army has had. Russia is holding back what it has in case it needs to pummel U.S. Army in Europe.

Does Russia even have enough troops to open a second front at Odessa? That’s questionable.
Personally, I think Russia would do best if it captures the Izyum-Slavyansk-Bakhmut highway. Obtaining this position would trap all of the UAF forces in Severodonetsk. That would be a Stalingrad type of encirclement. It’s reported that tens of thousands of UAF troops are in dug-in at that position.
If Russia could clinch the Severodonetsk encirclement, then it could use TOS-1 “Burning Sun” thermobaric bombs and FOAB ordnance to wipe out the UAF. Using these heavy bombs would demoralize the UAF and force large scale surrenders.
I think encircling and liquidating the UAF at Severodonetsk would change the world’s perception of what’s happening in this war. It might also compel Kiev regime to seek peace with Russia.
